He'll be broke and giving a tearful interview on VH1's Behind the Music in about 6-7 years.
|
He didnt make $5 per album sold on get rich or die trying. No artists make that much per album.

|
he did not get $5 per CD.
He made most of his $50 mil probably on his clothing & live performances. |

50 owns labels and produces albums/songs. That shit means more cash. The 50 mill he made last year was album sales + G-Unit shoes and his Vitamin Water. This year will probably end up being more with new cd + movie and more album releases from other label mates.
|
He has it made. Gets to express himself through rap and gets paid alot.

MyNameIsEmily, what's up keyboard warrior?
How can you tell that? G-Unit Records and Interscope might just be a joint venture. Shady and Interscope is and who knows how they setup G-Unit Records. I don't have all the facts but I don't think 50 is just another artist that collects 10 cents per album. |

But nothing has yet to match the total net earnings of one signer/sonwriter and publisher:Garth Brooks. But you might be right on the $4 CD thing. They could very well be the highest paid "_____" per album. But they havn't had the highest selling album in ages. 99 is was manson. 00 it was nsync, ect... The seem to always fall between 5-10. Not bad, though. :winkwink: |
Well i was wrong on my info. I was searching google for the total amount of sales for "get rich or die tryin" and i found this link. this is where i got that info from of him getting paid $5 per sale.
I quickly scanned the article and seen " get rich or die tryin" and $5 per sale at the bottom thats all i read :1orglaugh He got paid $5 per sale on his independant album "Guess whos back" Sold 202,000 copies and that article was in 2003. |
oops forgot the the link
|
I wonder how mutch will be left of that ofter 25 years.
|
i think i need some sleep im workin on 4 hours no its not pot im smoking :1orglaugh :helpme
|
I know he got a $1 million signing bonus for his album, which is like the most any rapper has ever gotten.
Eminem made about 14.7 million from 50's album. I don't remember where i read it, i think BET. I cannot find the link. |

Sure he's rich, but the chain of command if waaaaaaaay fucken deep. For new producers- the standard "Production Royalty" is 3 pts. (4 at the most) Above that he has eminem, who answers to Dre, who press the stickers on on the back of the albums for Jimmy Iovine, who has to answer to the whole crew of SEAGRAM VIVENDI UNIVERSAL- who owns half the universe. By that time his +3 pts is -10. But never the less, it's still 3 points less to worry about. :winkwink: |
50 is pretty sharp. G-unit is more than just a record lable, they have clothing lines and shoes. Dude is filthy rich and owns Mike Tyson's old mansion.
I saw his interview the other night and I think his ego is getting the better of him. Now I heard this morning that him and The Game are in a huge fight. Guy sold 11 million albums, and is living large. Why not chill and enjoy ??? |

Just for the record, G Unit is just a vanity label (better known as an imprint) that spilts 50% of the record sales with Shady & Aftermath. 50% of record sales equals roughly $4-$4.50 per record depending on the wholesale price.
Now do you really think he made more money than Dr. Dre and Eminem on this deal? His future recordings might make him $2.00 a record but this last one surely didn't. He would have been lucky to see $1.50 per record sold. Now his G-Unit clothing and sneakers have been doing extremely well. He will make 10x more money from that than he ever will from records. |
The money snowballs :thumbsup

Anyhow, what's really interesting is how Interscope has been dominating the the industry with highest selling albums by working as a team. Nine Inch Nails, and Dr. Dre work together quite often. They're the Top #2 producers on the market next to the Neptunes team. (which I'm really not a fan of) And all those eminem bootlegs and NIN rare tracks- mixed and arranged by the engineers @ larrabee studios. It's a silent partnership... One could almost call it AfterNothing. I'm sure someone here will find a little hole in my facts and be like "AHAHAHA, YOU GOT PWND!" But I don't follow it as extreeme as I used to. Matter of fact, I think Seagram recently merged again last year, making them NBC/Seagram/Vivendi/Univeral/MSN. Talk about a GIANT damn, last week you was shakin Obie Trice's hand. :1orglaugh |
No Alex, a vanity label is usually referred to as a production/imprint deal.
Most artists are signed through them. Look at Ciara (Sho Nuff/Jive), John Mayer (Aware/Sony) or The Prodigy (Mute/XL/Maverick/Warner Bros) In Interscope's case the label makes sure all of it's artists have a production/imprint deal so they can turn it into a mini label once they have some brand awareness. Just like you know who G-Unit is now and it allowed 50 to build a brand that the kids trust which helped to make successful debuts by Lloyd Banks and Young Buck. 50's deal as an artist will always going to be split up between Aftermath and Shady because they found him first but G-Unit's other releases weigh more in favor of 50 Cent as far as the percentages go. I believe he splits around 25% of the profits with the G-Unit artists. So at the end of the day, G-Unit is a production company that produces records but Interscope is still the actual record company doing the bulk of the work such as promotion, marketing, manufacturing/distribution (through Universal) and most importantly financing. How's the old saying go... he who controls the gold makes the rules. |

When you're a superstar, you want to use your pull to startup ventures and companies. You don't want to fight with your parent lable over record sale percentages- that's biting the hand that feeds you. The best bet for any artist it to give up the sales. Give it up. They'll push your stuff more if they have a higher stake in profits. Artists don't realise this, because they're stubborn. They want to control every aspect of their music. Which is the main reason why Mettalica owns their own little lable. The record companies don't want anything to do with them, because they want to much money! They HAD to start a lable! At the beggining of each quarter, the executives of the record company meets with the producers to decide the game plan. They pull out their calculators and decide who has the best conversion ratios- and they push the albums that will make the lable the most- which is the artist who makes the least. :2 cents: And in regards to Vanity Lables/Imprints... They're the new "TGP's" of the music industry. :thumbsup |
