I registered my first domain back in 1995 when there wasn't even a charge for doing it.

Damn, why were these peeps buying domains back then, I thought the net, wasn't really strong and shit until like 1994?

Just googled "history of the internet" and came across this paragraph:

Sounds about right.

Whats the history of domain prices? How hard was it to regester a name in 1985? in 1990?

Thats when I registered one of my first mainsream domains.

It was FREE to register domains in 1995.
The only show in town was Network Solutions.

.org and .edu had rules that needed to be adhered to.

I remember working with a small college that was having a hell of a time getting an .edu domain because Network Solutions thought they were a bit too small to be honored with an actual .edu domain.

Those were the days....
