Do you use META Tags in your galleries

Yes or no?

megatgpdotnet 02-28-2005 03:34 AM

Sometimes... you never know if they get crawled.

I use META tags "description" and "content" on EVERY SINGLE PAGE I upload.

It may just be a case of oldtime paranoia, as I don't think any significant SE cares about those tags anymore.

Barefootsies 02-28-2005 03:35 AM

I haven't previously, but making the change.

I would say that you should just for the simple fact of how alexa, and google work, and you never know what (internet search engine) spider is crawling through where.

So having those meta tags may be advantagous. Just my thought anyways.

theFeTiShLaDy 02-28-2005 03:41 AM

when i used to work for coasar.com every gallery our designers did had META TAGS.

I've heard that too, but as stated, you never know.

The way I think about it is "if mystoopidSE.com reads my META tags, then I'll use them." I don't care where my traffic comes from AS LONG AS I GET MY FIX. :pimp

hydro 02-28-2005 03:49 AM

Yea, you should take any chance you get to boost your rankings and get more traffic. Although meta tags probably don't make a big difference you really never know what google is up to next...

cool1 02-28-2005 03:52 AM

I used to use meta tags on my galleries.
Now I still use meta tags but not the description tag, cause of the word script in deSCRIPTion. I found some TGP's ban the word script.

swedguy 02-28-2005 03:52 AM

Yeah, I do. But I don't know know why I never get my galleries accepted :(

Interesting... never thought of that as I don't do the gallery thing. Very good point.

That's REALLY lame that such TGP software exists. It's like banning the word "associate" because it has "ass" in it...

iwantchixx 02-28-2005 03:55 AM

Using description tags is something you should always do but it's something I often overlook. It actually helps with some SEs but with anything, it's more about the actual content of the page. Keep things rich and non-spammy and give them lots to chew on.

It's somthing they have to do now to protect themselves from people with mallicious scripts on their pages. Unfortunate but understandable.

It just seems like software that can't distinguish between "script" and "description" DESERVES to be exploited.

Rui 02-28-2005 04:30 AM

Hell yeah I do...

KorayIsSexy 02-28-2005 04:46 AM

I always use meta tags. Solely for the sake of pure validity.

Silent_Thunder 02-28-2005 06:18 AM

OK, I will use META now. :)

strobi 02-28-2005 06:57 AM

I always do at this point simply out of force of habit, and it seems like a good habit to keep, so I will continue to always include them.

Exactly ... meta tags, especially keyword and description tags are worthless if they aren't relevant to page content, throw lots of corresponding html text on the page and you're chances are greater :2 cents:

DutchTeenCash 02-28-2005 08:42 AM
