Congrats man ... they are fun watching them grow up. Be glad you're in a business that allows it. My oldest kids grew up while I drove a truck cross country.

the day we found out was cool. They took my wife back for the first part of the ultrasound. They didn't tell her what it was yet. They then came and got me for the next part.

She was in the room and the monitor was facing away from her, but it was facing the door. When I walked in, the screen told me right away. It was zoomed in on and really big on the screen.

It was magnified and looked huge, two things were obvious.

1) It was a boy 2) I am the father.

Yeah, we did the ultra sound, but the sonagrapher (I think they're called) wouldn't tell us. In Ontario, there's been too many cases where they say what it is, get it wrong and the parents sue. So they're not allowed anymore.

Anyway, she said that it was really clear what gender the baby is, but we have to wait for the doctor to tell us tomorrow. I'm dying to find out.

My reasoning. I'm assuming you are around 16 - 20 weeks along. When they do the test, they are looking the male parts. Sometimes the baby doesn't position itself so they can see them.

If they dont see it, they are unsure. It could be a boy or girl. If they see it, they become sure.

The mistakes are most likey when the say it is a girl, but its a boy and they just couldn't position the baby for a good view.

Keep in mind, thats not coming from a professional. If mine is not a boy, I'm going to be pissed. Not because girls are bad, but we have invested and painted in a lot of light blue stuff.

I know, I've already figured that much myself... if she's THAT certain, then it pretty much has to be a boy... but I'm not going to officially get my hopes set to either until I'm told to.

And yes, that's the thing.. people on average spend about $10k on baby stuff the first year... if you spend it all on boy stuff because you were told it would be a boy and it's not... you sue the doctors. That's where the medical costs start going up.

hint all the duck stuff LOL

Yes, that worries me... all the big stuff, furniture and strollers and so on... we're trying to stick as neutral as we can. Wood mostly, or browns where possible. That way if it turns out it's not what we think... the cost to us will be as minimal as possible.

Congrats again to you though... even if I'm told it's a boy and I find out at the end that it's a girl... I'll still be thrilled :)
