Instead of Notepad... whats a good prog...
Notepad & Wordpad keep adding window symbols and shit to my scripts when i edit them = scripts no longer work.
I hate editing scripts online via SSH with my UNIX PICO editor. Too slow and hard to control. What else can i use to edit scripts, without manipulating them? |
I just open them with my editor in Cuteftp.
http://editpadpro.com I been using it for years doesn't have the limitations of notepad either
I like homesite.. Color coding and tag completion.. Nice interface too.. :-)
I use Editpad lite. Simple program with nice features (open as many pages you want in tabs, search and edit many files at the same time, etc.), and it's free. I don't know how much better Editpad Pro is, but the lite version does everything I want it to.

editpad = oldschool and good
editplus, no better text editor, it has an ftp support so you no longer need pico via SSH
Thanks for the responses! Most of these programs look pretty good :thumbsup
http://www.textpad.com/
free and it runs macros to make all those repetive jobs a breeze |
I use EditPlus
Textpad all the way! :thumbsup
I use MetaPad
Works fine for me. |
Crimson Editor = http://www.crimsoneditor.com/
ultraedit kicks ass
meta pad for me.
MS-Dos Edit ... most every Windows based PC already has it preinstalled - it's a tiny program that just works :thumbsup
Alternatively, for small edits/quick changes on the server side (linux, etc), use VI :upsidedow Ron |
homesite is the best for code for sure

Call me old school, I dig Pico via SSH :thumbsup
If you like Pico, then you will love vi.
That thing is a beast. It has every possible feature and formatting function you can ever think of. |
Metapad is cool. :thumbsup
Use X-Pad Editor: http://www.fhgstore.com/wmtools.html

I have been through this same trail; Honestly, I have yet to find a Text-Editor for Windows that suits my needs- and I have resorted to a combination of Dreamweaver's "HomeSite" mode + UltraEdit-32. I try to avoid text editing on a PC if possible. BBEdit for Mac is my preferred choice for text-editing. :) |
I use homesite! :thumbsup

editpad and textpad are ultraoldschoolhackerrifics
While all these programs are "old-school" that's fine and all, but I will say editpad, metapad, textpad... basically anything that ends with "pad" sucks.
