My microwave died this morning!

While heating up a potato this morning my microwave started to buzz really loud and spark underneath and behind. I decided I didn't need my house burning down so I chucked it. Now the mission of buying a new microwave!

I'll probably head over to Target later today to pick up a new one but have no idea what's good and what isn't, I've never bought a microwave before! Any suggestions? Definitely needs one of those rotating plates, cooks the food better. I've been checking them out online and I see prices ranging from $50 to $200.

:helpme

sorry for your loss

Well its not like its the end of the world ;)

they are fairly cheap anyway

Just get the one with the most power for the cheapest price. These days they're so cheap if you need to buy one every couple of years, you're fine.

Oddly mine's almost 10 years old, gets used several times a day and the sucker just keeps running. I want a new one but I can't rationalize it until this one dies on me. It's a Panasonic if that helps you find one that will last forever :)

May it rest in peace. Has a donation fund been setup yet?

good, microwaves aren't healthy.

get an alternative, they're out there.

My buddy put a hot pocket in my microwave for 10 minutes instead of 1.. the thing caught on fire.. smelt like burnt hot pocket in my place for a couple hours.. had to toss the microwave to..

Sparks 02-26-2005 12:55 PM

Damn, that sucks. Good luck on the microwave search :)

heh, i had mine die a few days after I had bought. Got a new one and have had no probs so far.

beemk 02-27-2005 11:46 PM

wrap it in foil next time, that will save your microwave from breaking.

beemk 02-27-2005 11:47 PM

oh yeah, check the watts on it, besides that it doesnt really matter unless you need special features.

So sorry to hear that. :(

I'm surprised that has only been mentioned once.

yellowmenace 02-28-2005 12:17 AM

sorry about the microwave dude.

MrJackMeHoff 02-28-2005 12:18 AM

Get a GE Advantium.. They cook with hydrogen lights and actually make crisp food in the same amount of time. ;)

Check out the Delonghi AR690 Retro Convection Oven, or a combination microwave/convection oven.

http://www.thebuzzelectronics.com/it...=AR690&cid=206

There are so many microwaves in the stores that you become dizzy trying to decide which one to buy. Size, color, price, countertop or place above the stove. Plain microwave or a combination of mic/convection.

Have fun.
