dont get one though really unless you cant afford the ipod witch i am sure you can

the shuffle is realllyyy cheaply made

mal 02-26-2005 03:10 AM

i just ordered one :)

Digipimp 02-26-2005 03:11 AM

i was thinking of getting one, i already have an ipod but a shuffle seemed as though it would be better for me to wear with the lanyard while playing basketball and running around.

xclusive 02-26-2005 03:18 AM

The shuffle is a great idea but it seems very limiting

hmm... they're apparently out here too. but future shop (best buy) won't carry em until march 7th.

i was thinking of getting a 1 GB model, but the 4 GB minis are only $40 more right now.

honestly NOT worth it
it is really cheaply made
better off getting something else if you want a small mp3 player

Rex 02-26-2005 03:42 AM

I have the 1g shuffle and it rules with use under linux. I use it everyday, all day long. Plus with the laynard it is perfect in the gym, eventhough I look like a tech toting douchebag for wearing it...

Rui 02-26-2005 07:51 AM

no display...very plain and cheap...I would get the Ipod Mini instead..

wow talk about being anti apple and making it obvious. the shuffle is a better value than practically every other flash based mp3 player out there.

robfantasy 02-26-2005 07:55 AM

why would u get a shuffle? what a waste of money

KorayIsSexy 02-26-2005 08:32 AM

Yeah, Im going to go with the general consensus and say that the shuffle isnt worth the money. Its just a way to squeeze money out of people who cant afford the more expensive counter parts by putting the "iPod" name on a peice of crap.

Great marketing gimmick though. Shuffle.

Not really you are paying a huge premium just because its from Apple, its a piss poor offer.

Go with a Ipod Mini man...seriously :2 cents:

Sosa 02-26-2005 08:40 AM

ipod this, ipod that heh. Good little toy though.

candyflip 02-26-2005 08:45 AM

My mom has one for the Gym and she loves it. My dad got it for her for Valentine's Day.

She loves it and the fact that it's easy to use for someone who's not all that keen on computers.

hey genius the mini isn't flash based, it's hard drive based. compare the memory size and price of flash based players and you'll see that the shuffle offers more memory at a lower price than virtually every other player.

until just about 2 days ago the mini was still $249 but they introduced the 6gig version. the 4gig is not going to stay as a current model for $199, it's only until they clear all the stock for a bit and then it's back to the one model mini for $249. so currently the 4 gig mini is a great deal, but many people want a small flash player and the shuffle is the best flash player out there right now at the price and size.

tungsten 02-26-2005 09:08 AM

at least get an ipod mini :thumbsup

maybe, but its very portable.... VERY...

i hate bulky things on me (other than my dong and (unfortunately)my belly), my camera is a casio exilim, micro sized, and if i were to get ao ipod it would have to be a shuffle....

plus i travel so much i cant have all these bulky things all over me

MandyBlake 02-26-2005 09:23 AM

i know someone who has one and they love it.
he said it holds 240 songs and that its great for when he trains at the gym.

Peaches 02-26-2005 09:31 AM

I want to get one because I don't listen to music enough to rationalize spending the $$ for the ipod.

What do you mean by this? I don't think Apple would put their name on something "realllyyy cheaply made"

but if you want a flash player seriously look around the average price for a 255mb flash player is $129-$179 whereas the Shuffle 512mb is $99 and for the 1gig model prices average $199 to $229 and the Shuffle is $149, now tell me how that's not a good deal.

Sly 02-26-2005 11:46 AM

You guys are paying $200 for 1-6GB MP3 players? Why? Because its an iPod?

I bought my Dell DJ last summer for $250 I believe, mine is the "lesser" model with 15GB. The larger model has 20GB. Maybe I'm missing something but that seems much more cost efficient. I love it, no problems at all.

it's not "realllly cheaply made", but it is cheaply made. low price points and high profit margins usually make for a lower quality product.

Dalai lama 02-26-2005 11:48 AM

iPod mini costs ?269 here last time i checked

Sly 02-26-2005 11:48 AM

They don't seem to carry my model anymore, but this is pretty much the same thing: http://www1.us.dell.com/content/prod...=19&l=en&s=dhs

It has 20GB for $225.

Manowar 02-26-2005 11:50 AM

i'd take an ipod mini over a shuffle any day. Much better functionality for the increase in size
