Anyone know how I could protect my music?
I want to put some beats I made on my site but is what stopping someone from downloaded it and useing it for themself? Is there any way I could prevent this?

I'd tell ya, but you might be Lars Ulrich from Metallica.

maybe you should have them listed on Napster, they'll take good care of it
or give Prince a call, that skinny muthafucker with the high voice has got the tightest protection of anyone in the biz final solution would be to not post the beats |
From what I know (and it's not much) audio is much more difficult to protect than video ... mostly because of the way sound cards are designed ...
But, the only protection I know of that works somewhat is Microsoft Digital Rights Management (DRM) --- There is a DRM audio crack floating around but you have to purchase the music before it works ... and Microsoft says they've changed DRM to avoid the crack ... (DRM is supposed to keep people from copying and distributing the music even when they buy it) ... But ... DRM can be expensive as well ... If you're talking about only one track it's definitely not worth it ... If you're talking about an entire site of music then it may be worth it ... but it's pricey ... and sometimes complicated to set up ... But, you never know ... prices have come down somewhat and may continue to do so ... [This message has been edited by erotictrance (edited 12-08-2001).] |
