This thread has nothing to do with Porn.......and kinda personal :-

Although this is a little personal for me and I don't usually post personal stuff on the boards, I felt like sharing.

My brother has had epilepsy all his life. He has undergone 12 brain surgeries to try to correct and still nothing has worked.

He is in this weeks Print Issue of BusinessWeek with an image and a write up about him. Also on the businessweek site.

He just called me up to tell me I wasn't the only one with pics on the internet now !! LMAO :winkwink:

If you have a minute, it's a nice read with revelations on medical advances in this area. And if you know anyone with epilepsy or similar disabling illnesses, props to those that deal with things like this and never let it get them down.

He is pictured here: http://businessweek.com/ Top Large image shows him and his CAT scan in the background
and the article is here:

good for him, congrats :thumbsup

MrIzzz 02-25-2005 02:57 PM

wow, my prayers are with you guys. i hope that they can finally treat him for real and get a break through treatment from this

PrivateIvy 02-25-2005 02:59 PM

Oh, and they misspelled his name, said he'd never had a job -which he has, and they PS'd his neck in the pic to look like he was wearing a turtleneck , assumably because of the large scar he has from his surgeries :-

But he's still excited... hell if I'd had parts of my brain removed 12 different times and it didn't work, I guess I'd look at the publication as one good thing that came out of it all :-

Thanks very much Izzz :angel I hope so too. After 1 of the surgeries he went an entire year without a seizure and got his driving license for the very first time which was like the greatest thing that could ever happen. A step to leading a normal life. Then he had started having seizures again and had to give it back, which is a heartbreaker.

I'm a very avid supporter of The Epilepsy Foundation and I hope that one day they will find a treatment that actually works.

I was glad to read that the seizures are down to 15 or so a month instead of 60 or so! Thats a huge decline. All the best! :)

I am pre-epileptic, so I can sorta sympathize.. I hate having seizures....

If you ever see me just sit down on the ground or clutch onto something you know why now.. lol.. I usually do whatever I can to ride it out before it hits full blown...

Stacey_JoinRightNow 02-25-2005 07:09 PM

hope everything will eventually turn out fine for him :)
my prayers are with you

Ivy. What a story....your brother deserves congratulations for his endurance and perserverance...when a lesser man would have given up....or given out..

I realise this is very personal for you and your family; but, it's a hopeful message you're imparting....and we can all use that from time to time.

Thank you.

Shoehorn! 02-25-2005 07:20 PM

Wow, thats sad that he has had to go through all that, but hopefully they will find a way to make the seizures stop.
