My homie wants to start up a sports related website and wants to call it "The Best Damn Sports Site" is he gonna have any legal issues with the best damn sports show with the name? or since it's slightly different it shouldnt matter?

Company A: FOX has a floor full of lawyers that cost them money no matter if they are working or not.
Company B: Is a friend of a GFY poster who asks legal advice on an adult message board.

Subject at hand, person wants to call a web site The best damn sports site when they know Fox owns The best damn sports show.

If fox wanted the domain they would have it. The last thing they are worried about is someone almost copying a name of one of their shows. Go ahead with it. The worst they can do is request you rename the site.

That's what I told my friend, why would they bother unless it was making millions or something?

If he makes it big. They will close him down. So as long as his site sucks and no one ever sees it, it will be fine. Is he pretty happy to waste his time?

i was just talking with a friend about this the other day. now note this is not a legal opinion or anything of the sort. but we reasoned that "the best" anything is really just a matter of opinion. so you should be free to make that claim. because in your opinion it is "the best" of whatever is out there.

Good point. We have sent out multiple e-mails and voice messages to Fox Sports Net about this and have yet to receive any responses. But yes, he has registered the domain so maybe like the dude above said we could sell it or somethin.
