Thinking of getting the lazer eye surgery, any input?
 

Hello everyone...I was just wondering if any of you fine webmasters have gone through this surgery? I was curious as to what you thought is it? is it safe? should I take the chance? what about the long term effect? I am for once sick of wearing contact lense/glasses day in and day out. I am 20 years old, and getting older day by day... and my visions are so bad that even when I saw AMP in a dress, I didn't even go blind.

I wouldn't do it, it's too risky. In 10 years someone is gonna go blind from it and they'll file a huge lawsuit against the doctors who, 20 years before, promised there were no long-term effects.

My brother and his wife both had it. They don't really mind the seeing eye dogs now... they're really quite friendly.

A friend of mine had it done, was over in about 30 min and now he's got perfect vision. He couldn't be happier!

My girlfriend has been considering having this done also.
It's like any type of risky surgery. If you do your homework and get someone reputable and well known, then you should have good success.
If you go cheap then you run the risk of losing part or all of your vision.
It's not worth the risk to go cheap.

That said, there's always a risk, even with the reputable surgeons, and it's up to you to weigh up those risks with the benefits.

I had a close friend get this done 1.5 years ago. She's very happy with it. She did go to a doctor that has been doing this for a while (and that's a great thing to do since it's a newer proceedure).
