Moving to CA from NY

Hi:upsidedow
I'm thinking of moving from NY to CA this fall.
Please enlighten me of pros and cons this move can cause. I also don't know what area of CA to move to. I'm 21 and like to party.

Thanxxx

LA is awsome... been here all my life and will never move...

West LA or Studio City is my favorate :thumbsup Good Luck!

Hey is this true that all nightclubs close at 1:00AM in LA?

Froey Twe 02-23-2005 10:13 PM

Beverly Hills California, bunch of rich chicks out there should be nice to live there as well, what?s wrong with NY panty of parties here why are u moving?

California has by far the best wheather....dont mind the rain last few days...from all 50 states ( maybe Hawaii is as good ) California has the best overall wheather....and that why its crowded...cause everyone knows...the only cons in Cali is air pollution from cars since so many people move here....

Moving for the following reasons, correct me if I'm wrong, comments more than welcome:

1. Climat sucks. Half a year is humid like in hell and the other half a year it rains and snows. My body hardly tolorates excess humidity and my sporty Benz doesn't work in snow and hard to keep clean when it rains. ( I heard CA has much better climat.)

2. Too much garbage. (I heart that in CA hey don't put garbage bags on the street... Is it true?)

3. Too conny. Most companies try to scam you anyway they can.

4. Roads suck and lots of traffic.

5. Too many illigal emigrants.

Some people say that New York is not America, does it make sense?

Please enlighten me.

lol, you think theres too many immigrants in ny? just wait till you move to mexico..err..i mean california , lol.

i love cali but the people just move waaaaaay too slow out there, and if you wanna see some nice traffic just wait till you hit the 405 if you're in LA.

everything closes early too, so you better get on the list for some afterhours

If #4 & 5 are a big concern in NY wait till you get to CA :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

I myself am from the east and have lived in NYC for over 4 years. I lived 2 blocks away from WTC etc during 9-11 and then moved to LA for a year shortly after. I didn't like it but I am giving it a shot on March 1st for a 3 month project. If I like it I stay, if not I am back to NY. Only time will tell.

Yeah................Better start your Spanish lessons now! And the trash is placed in the street in large recepticles for the trash trucks. No bags on street.
And you'll get the tar knocked out of ya if ya don't pick up your pet's fecal matter after he relieves himself.! :1orglaugh

I would never leave NY permanently
But a nice long temp move couldn't hurt.

colpanic 02-24-2005 12:05 AM

um... if you don't like foreigners, you won't like Cali :) SoCal is *super* Mexican, and there are asians everywhere.

Personally I dig it.

MrIzzz is right though, things really move a lot slower here, I've even noticed it in business.

If you hate traffic, do not even consider moving to LA. Imagine a giant parking lot at 2pm on a weekday.... now imagine that is the highway :)

If you want to party, you need to be in SoCal.....or maybe San Fran. outside of there it is all pretty boring strip mall towns.

stay in Newyork

Yes, those are good areas. Some people talk down about "the valley" but many areas of the valley are nice like Studio City, Woodland Hills, Sherman Oaks, etc. West LA and Santa Monica/Venice/Marina Del Rey are fucking expensive as hell. ( I know because I live in Santa Monica now).

Women here are WAY hotter than the east coast. WAY fucking hotter. But you better have some money or this city would SUCK.

spideriux 02-24-2005 10:49 AM

Los Angeles (California) is very cool I think !
Plz pics, when you will be there :)

bringer 02-24-2005 10:51 AM

LA if you got $$$$
fresno is you dont

wdsguy 02-24-2005 11:38 AM

you might want to check out san diego or sanfrancisco

Twatacom 02-24-2005 02:14 PM

They are both way to expensive (city wise) I am planning on moving to a growing city in the south in September/October...

smack 02-24-2005 02:17 PM

high cost of living there. traffic. and the whole thing is sliding into the sea one million dollar home at a time. :winkwink:
