It's a bit vague as to what it's for, and recently in the past week or two has switched from my proper city to a city about 3 hours from here. Oops?

That happen to anyone else?

Mine says Newburgh. That's about 5 hours from me.

I think they might have a little shift in their link between IPs and Cities....

Probably your IP's that have changed and not the database.. But I could be wrong.. :-)

Always says Mexico Webmasters for me..no city. And I'm not a 'Mexican Webmaster' anyhow..I just live here :)

I live in the 3rd largest city in Sweden and yet it think I live in a very small city south of me. The other geo dbs gets it right :)

That could be it, though generally those IPs are migrated fairly quickly across the net, as far as I know, and I'm using wrong terminology so sorry...

I wonder what GeoIP database company they're using.. it seems pretty incomplete. Anyone know?

When im home it says im at work and when im at work it says im at school which are all 20 minutes away from each other, its never been right

All these banners list _TOTALLY_ wrong cities for me. Its not even CLOSE. These databases must really be bad.

Honestly people, if you try to offer geoip stuff, at least get a good database.

Maxmind's one seems best for me so far.

The city is about 1.5hours from there..

i always take a second look at it, geo-targetting is catchy.

There's only really 2 city databases on the market, and people like you complain about both of them.

Getting the city wrong by a few hundred miles is still better than "click here for people in your area"...

The whole point of the banner is to make the webmaster aware of the GEO Targeted marketing aspect. Its a pretty nifty idea if you ask me.
