What does that have to do with anything? Hope you don't have any sex toy links on your site. A procescutor is Alabama can go to your site and see you are selling sex toys and your ass can be hauled into court now.

Hauled into court now because of this non-action?

The law was passed 1998.

The Stickman 02-23-2005 07:18 AM

Quote from article, "The law, adopted in 1998, allowed the sale of ordinary vibrators and body massagers that are not designed or marketed primarily as sexual aids. It exempted sales of sexual devices "for a bona fide medical, scientific, educational, legislative, judicial or law enforcement purpose.""

What kind of sexual devices do law enforcement agents need on the job??? :Oh crap

Gasper 02-23-2005 07:18 AM

i could of posted a link to something bush had done wrong lately and been commended for helping your argument why conservatives are evil. i think both sides are idiots. reality is somewhere in the middle and the party a person labels themselves with is usually the side of the argument they stick with regardless... bush is evil blah blah hillary 04 etc

COPA was "passed" in 1998 too. Is it REALLY law? A prosecutor are not going to take someone to trial on a law that is working it's way through the judicaial system. Jeez!

Sure both sides are idiots but liberals/dems ARE NOT IN CHARGE.

White House - republican

House of Rep - republican

Senate - republican

Supreme Court - republican

Governors - mostly republican

State Legislators - mostly republican

So WTF am I worried about the dems/liberals?

The topic of this post is a little deceptive... all the Supreme Court did was refuse to hear the case at this time. Here's a fuller explaination:

Ok so the Dems in congress want a law. Bush and leaders in the House and Senate say "Um no, now fuck off." So where's the pull?

No deception. They refused to hear the case so the law stays the law. Its basically the same as is they ruled in favor of the law.

Connor 02-23-2005 07:32 AM

Yes.

COPA was enforcable law when passed in 98 until a federal court judge issued an injunction prohibiting its enforcement during the First Amendment challenge.

No it wasn't. He is a conservative rebuplican which is a very hypocritical thing to be. Republicans believe in LESS government yet the religious right beleive in the government in telling people what to do in their private lives. One reason I dropped out of the republican party years ago.

OK how come no one has been prosecuted for violating COPA?

Long vegetable sales increase.

Gunni 02-23-2005 07:48 AM

I'll be pointing this thread out to the kool-aid makers, and they will sue you all... in alabama...

TheSaint 02-23-2005 07:49 AM

This doesn't men anything. The supreme court refused to hear it for technical reasons (its still in the lower courts). Wait a year or two.

Besides, free speech is different - its protected by the consititution. The so called "right to privacy" is not actually in the consititution, so it is lower hanging fruit for the nutcase attorney general that let this go forward.

It's implied, "The right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"

Alabama is stupid anyways. Juts like they will never pass a lottery. Tennessee was like this too. Then the did the math and saw all the money going Tennesseans were giving to educate children in Kentucky and Georgia then got wise and passed their own lottery.

once again I do not get the logic were dildos are illegal yet marrying your 14 year old cousin isn't.

Let's see now. It's ok for doctors to use them. Ok for scientists to use them. Ok for teachers to use them. Ok for political-types to use them. The judges, themselves, can use them, along with cops.

But, you and I, John Q. Citizen? Nope. We need to be protected from ourselves because we're too stupid to know what's happening.

So. What's changed????? NADA!

As we've already established there was an District Court injunction barring the enforcement of COPA while the ACLU's First Amendment challenge was being heard.

The injuction was then held up by the US Court of Appeals (3rd Circuit) and subsequently upheald twice by the Supreme Court (most recently in Ashcroft v. the ACLU - 2003 ).

The law has not been enforcable since the original injunction.

chodadog 02-23-2005 08:07 AM

Danny_C 02-23-2005 08:30 AM
