Australian TV SUCKS

If only the Americans knew the shit that this country produces. Sure there are some good programs/movies but holy fuck, some of this acting is laughable on these shows. And then we have the rest of the shit that we got cheap from the states, or we rip off, exactly from usa, woohoo, so lucky to have tv here.

Living For Today 02-23-2005 02:45 AM

get fox digital you pov fucker.

BRISK 02-23-2005 02:46 AM

Meanwhile millions of Americans are watching Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter

the grass is always greener on the other side

WarChild 02-23-2005 02:47 AM

Please do not mention Americans and Australia in the same message. Any further violation of this standard will most probably result in pouting, crying and general unhappiness from Joe Citizen. This has been a public service announcment and consitutes your first and only warning.

I guess if you aren't into much sport it probably isn't worth it. I don't really watch a great deal of TV though but if I need to it is there to watch.

reynold 02-23-2005 03:37 AM

I don't like Aussie shows.

Yeh, lots of sport on there, I would probably watch cricket and some other stuff, not sure if I can get fox digi here anyhow.

Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin's playground crock dump place) is a boring, smelly place that is full of annoying little children and japanese tourists.

ozmatt 02-23-2005 06:42 AM

football season starts soon, so at least there will be lots of footy on (plus i got fox digi) so it should be a good winter :)

uno 02-23-2005 06:44 AM

Don't they have lots of nudity of crazy hot aussie chicks on aussie tv?

Furious_Female 02-23-2005 06:58 AM

Move to the US! :)

chodadog 02-23-2005 07:12 AM

Definitley need some sort of cable televsion if you're living in Australia. The regular commercial channels are shit. Love my foxtel. And their rugby coverage is going to be awesome this year. Six Nations (which has already started), Tri-Nations, Super 12, Heineken Cup, International Rugby Sevens, and a couple of other comps. Going to be kickass.

When I was living there I had to put up with watching shit like "Australian Idol" , "White Collar Blue" and all the gameshow rip offs there like "Australian Price is Right" where they rarely give away the prizes. :Oh crap

rowan 02-23-2005 11:21 AM

Foxtel isn't really all that fantastic. About a year ago (a couple of weeks after I first had it installed :321GFY ) the number of commercial ads suddenly shot up. During some shows you'll see breaks comparable to commercial television. I now often use my DVD recorder now to skip the ads, but I was initially pretty pissed that I was paying $$$ to see the same ads that show on free-to-air.

Shows and movies get repeated several times per month, sometimes even 3-4 times in a single day. That "Seconds From Disaster" series has been looping over and over on NGeo for 6+ MONTHS.

Foxtel Box Office is a clumsy joke, I'd rather pay $1 more and go get a proper DVD from the local store. I can start playing it exactly when I want to, I can momentarily pause it if I need to do something, and I can view the bonus features.

They've just started a new campaign with a bunch of couch potatoes raving on about how good Foxtel digital is. One of the chicks says she loves box office because she doesn't have to leave the house. :1orglaugh Since it's shown on Foxtel I guess that means there are still a lot of people who are yet to switch over.

I pay the full rate each month for Foxtel because there isn't really any way to tailor a package to suit my needs. I can't wait until we're at the stage where you can choose a program to watch, and pay for that one only... rather than paying a fixed subscription for a bunch of channels and programs you're never going to watch.

edit: 4000!

rowan 02-23-2005 11:25 AM

Some enterprising young schoolkid could probably make some hardcore illegal $ by recording a bunch of foxtel shows and regularly releasing them on DVD to his schoolmates. Then again, ripping and copying commercial DVDs is probably easier. :1orglaugh
