Off to Vietnam for 2-3 weeks...
 

Yeah- I don't post much here, but I know a fair number of peeps who either post or read here.

Starting Thursday I go to Boston, sleep a bit...then go to airport with folks I'm going with at 4AM. A mere 26hrs later and we arrive in Saigon (HoChiMinh City).

Wish me some fuckin' luck that I get an exit seat in the long leg of the trip.

If I don't answer e-mails, PM's from other boards or ICQ next few weeks...you know why now.

Do you think I should delete my primary POP3 account? It gets a shitload of spam. Even on a cable modem I think it would be a PITA to download nearly 21 days of e-mail.

Email Mike and he'll setup a spam filter for you if he hasn't already. Otherwise, I think you'll be fine. Expect a lot of email! But you don't want to miss out on any important messages either. Only takes a couple minutes to delete everything you don't want.

Yeah exit row window rocks. Feet up on the bubble door most of the way. I check in 4 hours before to make sure I get that seat on long haul flights like LAX-SYD if my FF points don't cover a business upgrade.

What route are you taking?

Boston LAX (either Tokyo/Seoul/HK) Vietnam maybe?

Well, in the past I've done jfk->tokyo->bkk a few times and have 72k miles banked.

But since I didnt' buy the ticket..I think it's boston->chicago->korea->saigon.

I have a box of protein bars so I don't starve, ear plugs, melatonin, benedryl, those oral b brush up thingies (never used, but will be good on plane), floss, and those little travel mouthwash bottles. You know how nasty your mouth feels after that airline food. :Oh crap

Managed to fit everything in a carry-on. :thumbsup

My favorite part of visiting Vietnam was the Mekong River Delta. Some neat little towns and cities in the region.

question: can usa citizens just buy a ticket and go to viet nam now?
