.US United States Domain Registration - Applicant must have a business in US or citizenship.

That's pretty much it.

There are BIG restrictions ... ironically, the land of the free isn't so free when it comes to .US domains ... my FuckCensorship.US domain, along with numerous other similar domains, are in perpetual lock and don't work - the .US registry has restrictions as strict, if not stricter, than NSI did back in the pre-ICANN days.

For adult, .US is best avoided!

where can you find what is banned and so on? I've looked all over their site nic.com and can find nothing but a shit load of BS mumbo jumbo with nothing that says any certain type of content is not allowed.

Ron Bennett 02-22-2005 11:59 PM

Their policy appears to be quite "fluid", so most any .US domain is at risk ... I wouldn't be surprised if content alone is grounds for losing a .US domain.

With all that said, .US may be worthwhile for some folks to capture type-in traffic, etc ... but one should not rely on .US for their primary site(s) / branding.
