Damn Sony & Their Everquest Servers !
 

Geez, I got my Everquest "Shadows Of Luclin" expansion pack early this morning at 10am EST and I figured that I could get a nice jump on everyone else that plays the game, seeing the new world, but then I go to logon and it says that the server is down while they upgrade it, that it'll be down until 11am EST, so I figure that I can wait for an hour. Now it's 11:13am and it's still not up !!

I'm getting shakey here, like a druggie waiting for a new kind of crack, ha ha ha.

Slick - let me know what it's like. I played EQ for nigh on two years (last year just as a guide) and I would be interested to see if it lives up to promises.

If not, I may have to buy a copy of DAOC with this month's checks.

Ok, I'll definately let ya know how it is. It's after 12pm now and it's STILL not up. They say that they're running behind. Typical Sony server work for ya, ha ha ha. It's killing me here.

I've been playing for just over a year now and have recently been a little bored with the game, but I'm hoping that this new expansion will bring some excitement into it. The new looks will be good, but then again, it's gonna be the same old gamplay, so who knows.

I did exactly the same thing. Moved servers so many times and started over that I was beginning to play on autopilot.

So I moved to Rallos Zek and played PvP which was fun - to be honest the boards were a lot more fun http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif It was like a gigantic planet-wide soap opera.

Then I got into guiding - that was HELLA fun for a while. Great people in the guide program (especially on the server I was guiding - our GM was a blast and would summon us into Naggy for kicks lol) but then it all got boring.

Same camp, kill, med, heal, med, heal, buff, med, med, med, med, heal, ect.

All my buddies play DAOC now and swear by it. I was in beta and it sucked, but wonder of wonders, they listened to their beta testers and the game is just amazing now. I won't play it though - I simply don't have the machine or the time to.

Then again, Star Wars Galaxies next year - shame it's written by Verant. Wonder if ever copy will come with a nerf bat?

If you all read correctly they told us that the servers would be down till 5pm today. Check out www.eqvault.com for server updates. You guys are so impatient. I can't even play till I get home. So =D~~~~

railz, I know what you mean about the same boring stuff in Everquest. I have a level 42 Warrior and a 27 Cleric now. I'm trying to build up my Cleric to get my res spells, but being a cleric can be a boring job. Heal, med, heal, med, heal, med.

The biggest thing that I hate about EQ is that once you get up there a ways, it takes so FUCKING LONG to reach a new level. They should work on that because that takes a lot of the fun outta the game when you play and play and you're not even close to hitting a new level. I should get onto the PVP server, that sounds like it'd be fun.

As far as DAOC, I was just about ready to give up on my EQ days to jump over to DAOC. I've heard many good words about that. They say that it's like they took all of the bad points about EQ and changed them like how you can solo better and you don't have to waste your time medding and healing all the time, those parts sound nice.

I was tossing up between getting the EQ expansion or DAOC, but I went for EQ, since I know what to expect. I bet that the new world and graphics are gonna be beautiful. I have the system to show it off, so I'm gonna play it, he he.

Eric, I never knew about their update on their downtime. They originally said 8am PST, which is 11am here, then it said that it should be up shortly that they were behind. Now you say down until 5pm, so that sucks. Thanks for the link to that site, I'll have to watch it to see what's going on.

Yeah, that sucks to be you, not being able to play until ya get home. Just hook it up, don't worry about work, EQ is more important, ha ha ha.

Are you gonna get the new expansion pack ??

I hate you all. We got the initial game disk and everytime we go to get "the patch", it loads to about 85% and then stops loading so, SHADDUP YA BABIES!

Well, it's 7:11pm here and I STILL can't get into EQ. At around 5:20pm I could connect, but the fucking patcher would just stop in the middle of the download because of all of the fucking congestion.

They should've had their shit together and had the damn thing ready to go in the morning like they originally stated, so that there wouldn't be a billion people trying to get into it after 5pm when people are home from work, school, and just have their hands on the game.

I was ready to go this morning when they originally planned, waiting and waiting, but then I get fucked because I can't get in. I'm ready to just put this on the shelf for now and run out and buy DAOC, he he he.

I know, I know, no damn patience here, but that's just the way I am when it comes to gaming, ha ha ha.

Well, I finally got into the server earlier this morning and let me tell ya, the new character models are EXCELLENT !!!

As far as the new world, it's confusing. The new cities are a pain in the ass to find where the hell you should be.

I tried the new Val Shir class, making a Beastlord and that was kind of a pain also. You have to do a bunch of quests looking for different people before you can even go out and do stuff. Talk about a pain trying to find people and places in an entirely new city. Plus in that city, movement was kind of choppy, so that dampered that experience.

Overall, it's not too bad. I guess that I just got frustrated more than anything with it today. Getting lost, trying to find out what's what. I brought my cleric over and ended up leaving and coming back to Kunark, too much bullshit to deal with. I could've leveled my character instead of wasting all the time that I did on there today with nothing to show for it.

Oh yeah, the horses look pretty cool, but their frickin expensive. From about 10K PP up to 115K PP. Time to start saving, ha ha ha.

Slick I agree. I am just thankful for my 1gig of Ram all my buddies have to turn off some of the models for speeds sake. Also the new exp and training system ROCKS! And being able to customize your face and hair and shit.... Kudos to the Varent. Only got to play a little last night. But I will be putting in a few hours tonight that is for sure!
