best use of a expired/un-renewed domain?

I just noticed that a TGP which I had a hard link trade with is now 404ing and showing its up for renewal/deletion via Network Solutions. I was thinking of picking up the domain as it has 38 backlinks. Having said that, what would be the best use of the domain if i got it? I'm don't have experience in buying old domains....

(302?) redirect it to your site

yep - its redirecting (302)....

is it best to use Snapnames for this? $60 seems like a lot to just grab a domain....and how do i figure out if anyone else has put in an order to pick it up?

If it only has 32 back links, I would just wait and see if it expires. Unless it is a kick ass name. and if it is , it is most likely alread snapped. If not, and it expires, you get it for 8.99 at something like name cheap.

Assuming that you value feeder traffic at about $5/k then you only need 4 hits per day to that domain to break even in the first year. After that it's just the normal rego fee.

The actual value of the traffic is probably much higher, particularly if the site has other hard links. $60 is nothing in that case.

How long ago did it expire? If it's only been a day or two then the webmaster may still have a chance to reclaim the domain.
