Why not outsource everything? I got the cash.
I can do just about anything. I can code, write html, do graphic design, market research, marketting, business development. I can do it all, and I can do it rather well.
But, as it happens, I have a job that I like that has a very large salary attached to it. Now, is there any reason for me to do any of the above myself when I can just outsource to capable folks out there? The money people charge for all those services is less than I would earn if I worked in the time it takes me to do it myself. Also, I'm a fairly capable manager. So, do you think that outsourcing everything decreases a project's chances to succeed? Are there certain things that are critical and should not be outsourced? |
Shit you have a great future ahead of you with that sort of reasoning...lol

Outsourcing works if you can 1) split all your daily tasks/functions into task modules 2) each task module has a set of expected outcomes that can be tracked easily 3) each module's outsource price is low enough to allow for a) redundancy b) centralized management and c) outcome-based tweaking.
Also, a key factor to consider in weighing outsourcing as an option--what do you seek to accomplish? Do you just want to lower cost? or do you want to EXPLODE your business' reach? The former may not always be sustainable however the latter's benefits builds up dramatically over time. Outsource has become a funny word. Technically, if you don't have an in house designer and you hire one to do your designs, you are outsourcing.
These outsource companies that are everywhere now have changed the meaning of the word to some. To me it's a dirty word now. I associate it with sub standard work, poor grammar and spelling and no real working knowledge of this business. Gene ($5 submissions) is an outsourcer but I don't see him as one. He has a solid product that I have never used but all I see is praise for him everywhere so he must be doing something right. Bottom line : choose your outsourcing VERY carefully. Going with a company solely for their price is a huge mistake. 9 times out of 10 you will not be satisfied and have to pay to get the job done again. |
