good drm solution? windows server 2003?

I need to impliment a drm solution for my videos. Both members area and pay per view videos. Does this come with windows server 2003 and is there extra cost for the licenses?

It depends on your provider. Normally when the provider is good or got DRM as a bundle from the telco, they give it out free. I'll be expecting that it's not due to setups etc.. Yes, setting it up and maintenance does cost, unless you provide and setup your own DRM.

This is a 50 YES, 50 NO answer.

Microsoft's DRM solution runs on Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 2003 server. It is a standalone application that does not come with any of the systems by default. To install it on a system you must license an SDK from Microsoft by faxing in some forms. Additionally you must obtain a Verisign Code Signing Certificate (costs around $300 US) and electronically submit an application for the toolkit.

After all that you wind up with some COM dlls in an installer you can install on your boxes.

Next step is learn how to use the SDK via ASP/ASP.NET/C# programming to encode your files and then issue licenses. (Not for the feint of heart).

So not free, and doesn't come by default with any setups.

Go with a DRM provider unless you're planning on some heavy duty DRM work and want some grey hair.

And as a shameless bump for my own DRM service click on my sig.

This is what I'm taking about! Normally the bundle is, you get this plan and get this bunch for free, and that's the bundle... this is the part where they got drm in the bundle they got. :)

They've got pretty much the best of the solutions out there as far as flexibility and definitely on pricing.
