what kind of discussion?

I'm really interested in talking to anybody about their views or understanding of God. I also have an interest in asking someone of the jewish faith/religion some questions, because I have never heard how the jews feel about many things.

do you find many parishoners on the GFY board? ... seems like there are a lot of PARIS-lover's on here tonight... but I think the only time most of these guys pray is when the come across the "would you hit it" threads ... "oh god please, i beg you" lol

I'm a very open minded person...
I understand that a person can be a believer in God, and actually want and try to do whats necessary to go to Heaven, and for God to find favor in them.

Because I myself have been a believer in God's word from a very early age, but this is just something I do to have a comfortable living, instead of being someone elses "grunt" worker or flipping burgers at burger king as I try to make it thru college...

It's a means to make money right now..
but I knew from the first day I signed up for a sponsor that this was just going to be a temp job..
not a life time career....

I noticed that after 9/11 people said the word God alot....
and talked about "prayers going out to the families"
who in other times give no mention and pose to be atheists....

But I think it's a shame that the only time people feel comfortable mentioning God is when something bad or good happens

Why not just be good for the sake of being good?

Everlasting life has to be the vainest concept ever devised. It appeals to people's worst fears (death) and not their best values (such as loving their fellow man).

For another example, the 10 Commandments have inherent value and don't require religion to implement the spirit of their teachings.

God/ religion is the biggest scam EVER.

The charity with the kettles at Christmas isn't a charity at all. It is an ultra right wing CHURCH that rakes in $100 million dollars (tax free!) every holiday season, and some of the money has been used to fund the legal defenses of numerous accused child molesters --its ministers.
