I was improving my TGPs database and a simple question came to my mind. How do you know if the paid spot you bought was profitable? How do you seperate the sales that came from paid spots from the rest?
Well, it is possible to track refferers with a simple PHP script. But hits arent sales. How can I track where the sale came from?
Some programs tell you referring url for sales as well as clicks, others let you spcify a 'tag' in the linking url for this specific purpose. other than that, yeah it can be difficult to decipher.

this is usually the case, you get stats of signups and referring urls

Couldn't you set up a new campaign with your sponsor and use that for the paid spot and use your other ref code for other places to differentiate the two?
I have some paid spots on several tgp's and use NATS to set up new campaigns for each individual spot. It helps me track how many hits that site sent and if they are responsible for any sign-ups. Since I only push my own sites on paid spots, it's fairly easy for me to track.
It's very simple to do, alot of our customers just rename their paid spots galleries and then when they check their stats they can see the referring gallery that made the sale.
