Damn, are there people still listening to Iron Maiden??
Anyway, their album Killers is the best. |
The Trooper has always been one of my favorites.

As far as my favorite Maiden song, that's a tough choice. I'd have to say "Aces High" though, even though, they have sooooo many great tunes. |
Die With Your Boots On !
.. Metallica died with Cliff. R.I.P. |
"Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner." Iron Maiden, my first "favorite band" .. back in High School. Never bought the CDs when I upgraded from albums. Sounds a little old to me now.

ooh, quite a few there :)
my favorite is probably "Two Minutes To Midnight" but would also have to go with "Number Of The Beast" (I lvoed covering that song, I flt truly evil and wocked while playing it). I also like "When Two Worlds Collide" (with the guy who replaced Bruce Dickinson) and "The Trooper" (You'll take my life/I'll take yours too/You fire your musket/and i'll run you through") hell probably the whole "Piece Of Mind" album...as for their extremely longwinded stuff, I have a softspot for "Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner" and "Aleaxnder The Great" In high school, I picked up a compilation album from Dianno (with the first Maiden vocalist Paul Dianno) and there was a song called "Thanks For The Angst" that kicked major ass...anyone else remember Samson? Bruce Dickinson's band before Maiden? They had the drummer, Thunderstick, who wore a mask and cloak all the time... I also agree with the "Metallica died with Burton" sentiment...damn, now I have to go break out the tape (still haven't bought the cd yet) "Kill 'em All" and listen to "Anesthesia" over and over again ;))) ------------------ Making Bank You'll Soon Find Out How Making Bank Plans To Pay An Honest $84 Per Trial Join Everday! Two Minutes To Midnight
Maiden kicks ass. I can pop in an old CD and they still crank, even a million years later. Same goes for Anthrax. Metallica went in another direction, and most of the old timer fans (like me) think their newer stuff sucks. Like they care. If I was getting their paychecks I'd be crooning Ricky Martin songs, man. Whatever the fuck it takes. I'm selling porn to jerk off artists for a living, I'm not about to tell Lars what he should do with himself. It wasn't like I was there when he was eating bread sandwiches in that abandoned warehouse in the 80's. |

I even have Steve Harris' towel that he threw out into the crowd during the PIECE OF MIND tour when they played at Exibition Stadium in Toronto (since been torn down). ------------------ http://www.wantingsex.com/hman_button.gif The Black Sheep of the Boneprone Family I like to rub HERTURN on my nipples |

IRON MAIDEN ... now that I think about it, was the first band to seriously get me into music ... I mean I listened to music, but was quite content to just listen to whatever the radio was playing before I heard Maiden.
(I enjoyed music enough to go on to DJ at several FM radio stations, including Q107) Steve Harris's towel episode was directly responsible for my switching from rythum guitar playing to bass guitar. WOW!! This thread has made me realize alot of nostalgia that I just never really realized how IRON MAIDEN had influenced my life ... ------------------ http://www.wantingsex.com/hman_button.gif The Black Sheep of the Boneprone Family I like to rub HERTURN on my nipples |
Fear of the dark ! http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif
As for Cradle of filth, i'd say Her ghost in the fog, Chtullu dawn and all the "Cruelty and the beast" album...(especially Cruelty brought thee orchids and Thirteen automns and a widow) [This message has been edited by SilverTab (edited 12-03-2001).] |
Man I haven't really liked anything from Metallica since ...And Justice, but they used to be one of my favorite bands. The other day on Shoutcast I heard someone playing AM I EVIL and it brought it all back! I was like a HS Sophomore when Ride the Lightning came out, and I think I've got every note of Garage Days memorized. Those were the days.
I've still got my Maiden shirts and silk tapestries from when I was young! I wonder if my wife will let me hang them in the living room? Ned |
Ride the Lighting is Metallica's BEST by far!
|
Speaking of Iron Maiden coverbands, Iron Maiden's done some very cool cover's themselves, UFO's Doctor Doctor and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath come to mind!
Man they've stood the test of time! God Bless Eddie. -N |
Oh hell !!!!
I have so many MAIDEN tapestries, along with Judas Priest (maybe a new thread ... fav Priest song ?? "UNITED" - of course!!!), Ozzy(probably my second greatest influence), Metallica (back in the Kill 'Em All - Ride the Lightning daze ...)Jimmy Hendrix, and even a couple of BOB MARLEY tapestries. I wonder if the moths have gotten to them yet ??? http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/eek.gif WHERE THE HELL IS BRENT TO TELL US ABOUT opening for W.A.S.P. this past September ??? through all the changes, Blackie has stayed a constant, his musicianship was never the best, but his songs were great fun to cover and there was always a twisted wit about his lyrics, though I didn't care for his 'serious" phase when they did "The Headless Children" too damn serious and message-laden...but nothing rocks as hard as songs like "LOVE Machine" and "School Days"...and they even had a ballad that was decent "Mephisto Waltz"...I kind of stole my vocal style (when we weren't playing covers) from Blackie...and was thinking about getting a Blackie 'do (black with the red and silver streaks)....and the soarkshooting codpiece...goddamnit, I'm getting all misty eyed now remeber those shows with the half dressed ladies in the torture racks and the chunks of raw meat being flung into the audience...an Electric Circus indeed ;))) ------------------ Making Bank You'll Soon Find Out How Making Bank Plans To Pay An Honest $84 Per Trial Join Everday!
