Best Software to RIP DVD's?

Can you guys tell me what is the best, free or paid, software to use to Copy DVD's. I just bought a Sony DVD-R External and want to burn some shit. Thanks :thumbsup

Does it burn DVD to DVD-R or do you have to download the whole movie then it burns?

For the compression I think it copies to your computer. I am not sure if it's even possible to compress a movie and have it not be put onto one's computer.

DVD shrink rules...

make sure you read up on how to reauthor/split/trim/cut to save on compression... at least until dual layer discs aren't so expensive.

though, I've compressed shit at 65% and still looks great.
