Warning to those that are downloading

...main stream movies...via E-Donkey. My youngest brother who is living with me has been downloading movies and burning them to DVD. Well my Internet Provider...sent me an E-mail...along with an E-mail they had received from Paramount Studio...showing the date...time...url etc. that one of there movies was downloaded via E-Donkey. My Internet Provider stated that if they received another complaint that they would cancel my account with them.

I called and talked with my Internet Provider and told them that all action of this sort would be stopped. So I removed all files and E-Donkey and told my brother to cease and desist...with the movies and the mp3's that he had also been downloading.

One warning is all my Internet Provider issues...thus the warning. BTW...if Paramount chose to prosecute it is a fine of $10,000 for each movie found that had been downloaded.

mal 02-18-2005 10:23 PM

download movies on IRC

Spunky 02-18-2005 10:23 PM

They are taking this to a new level..High priced lawyers are chomping at the bit

Mike Okitch 02-18-2005 11:21 PM

Thank God for Canada and privacy laws!

NetRodent 02-18-2005 11:37 PM

Your brother would be better off shoplifting DVD's of the movies he wants instead of downloading them. The penalties are far less severe for shoplifting than copyright infringement.

they are cracking down like a motherfucker

BBWTori 02-19-2005 12:06 AM

There was a piece on Yahoo saying they are going to start cracking down on people downloading even TV shows like 24.
SUCKS

QuaWee 02-19-2005 12:12 AM

he should stick with irc, bittorent and private ftps. good luck with that.

SUCKS

For downloading tv shows too?

Fuck! Might as well sue anyone who's ever purchased a VCR and taped a show.

That's not going to fly

MrJackMeHoff 02-19-2005 12:47 AM

Why not just buy them alot of good movies like $2.00 on amazon.com

Pipeline Q 02-19-2005 12:52 AM

It's not the downloading you get into trouble over. It's the uploading.

PenisFace 02-19-2005 01:19 AM

What kind of wanker uses software to download stuff where you can be watched? If you're a traditionalist, find a working download to Kazaa lite k++. It spoofs your IP and everything, its a gem..

But yeah stick to bittorent.

azguy 02-19-2005 01:32 AM

Downloading movies is just a waste of time and tons of frustration. I don't understand people who sit all day and waste hours trying to find files. $17 for Netflix and you got access to all the movies you want...

bringer 02-19-2005 01:33 AM

netflix + dvdburner

Vitasoy 02-19-2005 01:36 AM

No worries for me, never downloaded from those types of programs.

Another thing I will never understand. You got access to 25,000 titles and you still need to burn and save some? What's the point? So many things to watch and people waste time on re-runs :1orglaugh :1orglaugh I was never into watching movies twice. Makes absolutely no fucking sense. But I guess many people are into collecting them.. so..

AlCapone 02-19-2005 01:38 AM

Buy it on DVD. Geez. The quality you can download on file sharing systems sucks ass. Just wait a few months, and buy it.

Sure I did and still do, especially when I have people over who want to watch something I already saw. But I don't see the point of keeping the DVD, not to mention buying it. :1orglaugh By doing so you agree to waste 2 more hours in the future for something you just did. So pointless in my opinion.

it only takes a few minutes to queue up a bunch of movies from servers on irc. i queue up 3=4 movies each night before i go to bed and they are usually all downloaded by the time i wake up. :pimp

swedguy 02-19-2005 05:00 AM

newbreed 02-19-2005 06:15 AM

Yep, I just looked. You're the same lying piece of shit who took over for the pathfucker cat and also lied about going to internext.

xlogger 02-19-2005 06:20 AM

I use Ares P2P via proxies (the option is built in), so they cant do shit. Btw ares is really fast.

evildick 02-19-2005 06:52 AM

He should have used peerguardian.

http://www.methlabs.org/methlabs.htm

I would never take the time to download a movie anyway, but a program like this will protect you from being identified in most cases.

I wouldn't have admitted that he did it.... who knows, they might try to use that against you if they decide to file a lawsuit.

Should have said you have a wireless network and that maybe someone was logging in without your knowledge, and assure them that it wouldn't happen again. Or something like that.

Well the Internet Provider...told me that to cease and desist would be the end of it...as they had not provided Paramount with any personal information...but they did say that if Paramount issued them a subpoena they would have to provide personal information...but they did not expect this to happen. I am not overly concerned at this point.

tungsten 02-19-2005 08:07 AM

sucks ass, bastards

Ya, from what I've read you probably have nothing to worry about. The MPAA seems to be OK about giving people the chance to comply. The RIAA seems to be taking a more aggressive stance on lawsuits for music downloaders though.

I would think the video game industry will become involved in this soon too. The amount of pirated video games out there has to be hurting them.

69pornlinks 02-19-2005 09:19 AM

haha, they have nothing better to do..tell them to go suck one in the most poilte way possible

squizzel 02-19-2005 09:21 AM

Der Schleicher 02-19-2005 09:23 AM

I think it's better to watch movies in theater.
