African Lion May Be Roaming Near Reagan Library

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. -- Authorities in California are looking for one really big cat.

The large exotic cat, estimated to weigh 600 pounds, may be an African lion. It's been seen roaming the rural countryside near the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley.

Professional trackers were brought in to hunt for the animal after several sets of tracks, far too large for native bobcats or mountain lions, were found on a ranch not far from the hilltop library.

Officials have warned residents in the area to be wary and to keep their pets indoors.

I don't care if this lion is someone's beloved pet fluffy. If it rolls up near me I will have a new rug.

I don't know if you've ever been near lions or been around people who wrangle/raise them but a lion on the loose is no fucking joke. Sure some are big playful kitties but they're 500-700lb playful kitties.

ehm, why would you shoot it? Its not like it will attack you unless it feels threatend.

While I have little doubt of your honed hunter's instinct, cat like reflexes and super human hearing, the possibility exists that a lion "rolling" up on you might get the better end of the deal. :winkwink:

Or unless it is hungry. In which case you shoot. But I would not take the time to ask if it has already had dinner. Shoot first and ask questions later.
