Do you pay models for interviews?

I don't.

David,

I stated very clearly on the phone before you came in that I would need to meet with you for an interview. I made it blatantly clear that I don?t work with anyone without seeing them in person, and I would need to take some photos of you during this time for our review purposes. I have a pre-written routine that I step through with every single person I talk to on the phone, and the time we talked was no exception. The interviews I conduct are standard for this industry.

I?m going to set the record straight, as I did when I spoke with you in person. You did not model for my website. I conducted an interview in which test photos were taken. There is a difference, and there shouldn?t be any confusion. In no way did I ever imply that you would be paid for the interview. The photos I took are NOT used on the website, and that is why I do NOT pay for these photos. If I don?t make money, you don?t make money.

I will give you an example of my point. When you go to an interview at Target, do you expect to get paid? They do not pay people for interviews. You would be a fool if you asked them for money, for them to simply to meet you and see what you?re like. Do you expect them to hire you without meeting you in person before hand? The business I conduct is done exactly the same way.

I have no doubt that you?re anxious for work, but my primary concern is my own safety. If I feel that you in any way jeopardize my safety, it?s a no-go. I didn?t get very good vibes when I was talking to you in person. That?s where I draw the line.

In the future, if you expect to get paid when you interview with a company, you are going to have a very tough time. Best of luck to you. As far as the photos are concerned, they have been deleted for your privacy. Thank you for your interest in modeling.

-Noah

I dont know who would.. Why?? You are interviewing them to see if you wanna use them.

tungsten 02-18-2005 07:46 PM

its ridiculous to pay models for interviews

mortenb 02-18-2005 08:01 PM

You handled that well. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to tell the models when you are on the phone with them that you do not pay them for the interview or the test photos you shoot at the interview. Just to be sure they understand what is going on.

I make that absolutely clear when I'm on the phone with people. I just don't understand why they so often have the misunderstanding that they're getting paid when they come in. The exact wording is "Can you come in for the interview at 2:00 tomorrow? Basically we use this time to discuss any questions or concerns you might have, and we take a few photos of you for review purposes."

I don't know where they get off thinking I pay for the interviews. To the best of my knowledge, mainstream companies and adult companies alike do not pay for interviews. It would be completely different if I were putting the content up on my site, and having them sign model releases.

tony286 02-18-2005 08:39 PM

FredIsMe 02-18-2005 09:02 PM

that's the reason why they are models...

NaughtyRob 02-18-2005 09:16 PM

Funny you mention that.....

We had a girl come in today for an interview. We have a similar routine, we ask questions and take a few test digitals. Sometimes not even that, we just ask them to strip and take a look at them.

This girl would not even strip. She said "not until we set up a shoot"
I told her that we would never set up a shoot with a girl unless we saw her nude first, that she might have stretch marks, tatoos etc. She refused, I said bye bye.

Yes models get confused sometimes. It usually occurs when they get up in the morning, and continues until they fall asleep at night.

BBWTori 02-18-2005 09:33 PM

Hell no thats why its called an interview
I swear people can be so weird...
Test Shoots/Interviews are NON paid gigs to consider a model for work...mostly cuz they come to us WITHOUT a portfolio. If they had a portfolio I would THINK about it

Sometimes people just don't get it. At least we don't have to deal with the public constantly. :2 cents:

It?s always funny to hear that the potential model thinks he or she will get "paid" every time they go to a casting call or an interview. Unless they have a lot of credits/portfolio to back them up. Legit Hollywood actresses/actors have to go to casting calls all the time....I wonder if they feel they should be compensated for a "cold reading".

Hot Visions 02-18-2005 10:44 PM

we dont pay girls for interviews

MCP_Cristina 02-18-2005 10:56 PM

Hi Guy, you're right that was ridiculous for her to ask to be paid for an interview... However to avoid the situation in the future here's what we do with newbie models... We Just ask them to come over for a Bikini shoot and to state all tatts, and body marks, and whether the tits are fakes or real... This way we're not required to ask her to sign 2257's because she's not nude and signing for a models' point of view ='s $$$, and also, she'll be less inclined to feel intruded upon and have the audacity to ask for money... Understandably she can lie about what she has under the bikini and once she's at your shoot if she has lied, you send her ass home... Also, what we do when in doubt about her word, we send her in to the ladies room with a female PA (production assistant) to inspect the goods, therefore we can give an accurate description to our clients for approval of the talent.. Hope this helps!!! good luck!

yellowmenace 02-19-2005 12:15 AM

I only pay them if I fall in love with them..

slipkid 02-19-2005 03:30 AM

Maybe just tell the model its a meeting and not an interview. I doubt anyone ever gets confused that they should be paid for a "meeting."
