Cigarette/Tobacco Free!! Make Life Worth Livin'

This has been the #1 battle in my life. Smoking.

I've beaten it now and then but would slip back into it. Now and finally it's conquered. I did it this time by gradually dropping off. Measuring what it was like one day using cigs and one day not using cigs.

Then the body itself fought back which was the big test. It realized the damage being done and actually fought back itself! It was amazing!

Haagen Daas Chocolate Ice Cream helped the most. When I couldn't taste it anymore the taste buds took their place as the royal on high determinators of what's good in life and banished cigs altogether. Suddenly the craving was gone, the whole works. I literally don't have cravings anymore!

Word to the wise:

If you're not a smoker, don't even start. Hire a friend to beat you senseless with a baseball bat if he catches you smoking. Believe me, it's worth it.

If you're a smoker, tell all your friends right fucking now to kidnap your stupid helpless ass and lock you away in a hotel room or jail cell or something with proper medical supervision and cold turkey or lukewarm turkey your way out of this shit. Have them drop you off in the middle of the desert if need be. Do ANYTHING you can to get off tobacco IMMEDIATELY within 3 weeks you'll know why.

If you can't do it alone, go to your local Mayor. Ask for assistance. Tell your cops to beat you to a pulp if they see you with a cig.

Half a million a year die in the U.S. from this shit. In a few years it will be 500 million will die from now to 2010. Isn't that shit scary?

Tobacco is killing more people than mother fucking Malaria!!! Mankind's greatest nemesis, Malaria ain't got shit on what we do to ourselves anymore.

iBanker 02-18-2005 05:44 PM

Wow. That was intense! I need a cig now....be right back

SetTheWorldonFire 02-18-2005 05:46 PM

congrats

been trying to cut down. I smoked all day and now I'm down to one pack during the weekdays. That's pretty good for me. Only thing is when the weekend comes around and I get a few coronas in me I start feening. :(

Haven't had a smoke in a while (couple of months). Even when I smoked I knew it sucked and even voted for the tax hike (in Colorado). Fuck that stupid nicotine stick.... though one right now sounds very, very yummy............................................. ............... blah~!

SetTheWorldonFire,

That's a big giant step. If you're able to cut down, you're able to STOP. Are you down to one pack of cigs for the entire weekdays or what? I'm unclear on that.

Anyhow, I've found little by little did the trick til I trained the body to reject them. I think I've discovered something! I'm going to try it on several friends. See if they can quit too.

Good for you Psili!

Most folks can't make it that long. After 2 months your body should be way along the path to full recovery. Good for you!

Mistress69, you got my vote for brilliant babe of the year! You are right, cigs are EVIL. When I look at the list of top knotch talent who've died from them it's easy to see why they should be listed as evil.

I don't drink or do drugs. I had only one vice left, cigs. Now I'm so clean and sober if a vampire bit me it would keel over and die on the spot.

congrats man, that really shows courage. Many people are not as strong as you. I hope you feel proud of yourself.

18 months after quitting, all of the "shortened life expectancy" stuff is completely erased (provided no serious damage was already done).
So it's never too late.

Congrats on quitting :)

Greg B 02-18-2005 06:54 PM

squizzel, thanks but it was more than courage. It was a wake up call literally. My body just revolted. Not any vomiting or stuff. Just letting me know it didn't want what cigs had. Already I can see clearer, sense of smell and taste 1000% better, strength etc. to the top. It's now just getting the damage reversed and the toxins out.

Best thing I can say is take a day and don't smoke. Then eat your FAVORITE food. Then go back to smoking and then try your favorite food.

You'll notice the difference.

PR Tom, kudos for letting us know that. I found this chart on what happens when you quit:

When Smokers Quit - The Health Benefits Over Time

From the American Cancer Society

20 minutes after quitting: Your blood pressure drops to a level close to that before the last cigarette. The temperature of your hands and feet increases to normal.

8 hours after quitting: The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal.

24 hours after quitting: Your chance of a heart attack decreases.

2 weeks to 3 months after quitting: Your circulation improves and your lung function increases up to 30%.

1 to 9 months after quitting: Coughing, sinus congestion, fatigue, and shortness of breath decrease; cilia (tiny hair like structures that move mucus out of the lungs) regain normal function in the lungs, increasing the ability to handle mucus, clean the lungs, and reduce infection.

1 year after quitting: The excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker's.

5 years after quitting: Your stroke risk is reduced to that of a nonsmoker 5-15 years after quitting.

10 years after quitting: The lung cancer death rate is about half that of a continuing smoker's. The risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas decrease.

15 years after quitting: The risk of coronary heart disease is that of a nonsmoker's.

Last Reviewed: 2003

Now considering if you quit now, with the advances in genetics and nano technology, stem cell etc. in 5 to 10 years they'll be able to grow you a new ass to move into.
