Garlic, do you like it?

Im hooked on garlic, can't get enough. I know a guy that makes special garlic sauce, it's like mayo (garlic and small amounts of cholesterol free oil, so it's like garlic mayo). This thing is better than alchohol. Lowers the blood pressure and you're like stoned :) It's amazing.

Stoned?

Full recipe please

sweetME 02-18-2005 04:16 PM

Garlic is very healthy, I just hate the smell. I don't know anything about getting stoned with it.

axelcat 02-18-2005 04:17 PM

fischi 02-18-2005 04:18 PM

NickPapageorgio 02-18-2005 04:18 PM

I can chew it by the clove. The wife doesn't enjoy it so much though. :1orglaugh

Tom_PM 02-18-2005 04:18 PM

Garlic, Lemon, Parsley.. all very healthy things.
I think the top three, and good together too..like with chicken.. Now I'm hungry dammit

MandyBlake 02-18-2005 04:19 PM

Zankou Chicken in the Los Angeles area has this AWESOME garlic spread that melts on your tongue, doesn't stink, and gives a mild garlic buzz. I can't find it anywhere else :(

FredIsMe 02-18-2005 05:00 PM

the taste is quite strong for some, but the benefits are great.

swedguy 02-18-2005 05:05 PM

Garlic is great in almost anything :)

dirtydesignz 02-18-2005 05:09 PM

I love garlic, but for it to do your body good it has do be raw and chopped/crushed finely. When you do this it releases allicin wich is actually a broad spectrum antibiotic. The finer the chopping and the more intensive the crushing, the more allicin is generated and the stronger the medicinal effect.

I use it in cooking also, but if you eat a little raw everyday as a preventitive, you will get less colds and flu :)

MaDalton 02-18-2005 05:12 PM

i love it - and i don't care what others think when i eat it.

Yes, their garlic sauce rocks.

psili 02-18-2005 05:27 PM

I love garlic.

It made me finally realize how to combat bad breath with someone you're with: If you and a significant other eat pretty much the same thing, you both may have bad breath to others, but to each other it cancels out. So... um... I guess I conditionally love garlic; if I'm alone or if both the person I'm with and myself eat it.

Stinking Rose in Los Angeles is the bomb! Almost everything made with garlic. Damn gotta go by there this week now :thumbsup

mistress69 02-18-2005 05:57 PM

isn't it suppose to be good for you health wise?

mardigras 02-18-2005 06:00 PM

I cook garlic in just about everything. I could saute some onions and garlic together as a side dish. I'm the only one in my family that never gets a cold.

brutus 02-18-2005 06:02 PM

Oh, I love it and use with all foods when cooking... What a taste!

Heather Hamptons 02-18-2005 08:09 PM

No such thing as to much garlic. I LOVE the smell of it as well. YUM!

sickkittens 02-18-2005 08:10 PM

I like it. All depends on how you use it and with what.

Spunky 02-18-2005 08:21 PM

Yes indeed..I love it and it's good for you also

sickkittens 02-18-2005 08:22 PM

Hot garlic & butter bread sticks are good.

Monique Niccole 02-18-2005 08:25 PM

I love garlic in everything -- especially pasta. If you're ever in L.A., you should try a restaurant called "The Stinking Rose". The menu is really garlic-focused and all the food is yummy.

panicm 02-18-2005 08:33 PM

WTF is garlic?

just try oven roasted garlic. you can squeeze the cloves out of their husks and they have the consitency of butter.

4 heads garlic, stem end trimmed by 1/2-inch
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons chicken stock or water
French bread, accompaniment
Chopped parsley leaves, for garnish

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.

Rub the garlic with the olive oil and place the heads, cut-side up, in a small saute pan or baking dish that's just large enough to hold the garlic comfortably. Season the garlic with the salt and pepper and add the stock/water to the saute pan. Place the saute pan in the oven and roast for about 30 minutes, or until the garlic is golden brown on the top and the cloves can be pierced easily with the tip of a sharp paring knife. Remove the chafing dish from the oven and allow the garlic to cool. When the garlic is cool enough to handle, squeeze the roasted garlic out from the skins. Serve with slices of French bread and garnish with chopped parsley

I love garlic. They seem to make a good garlic butter sauce all over the Dominican Republic. Get some fresh ocean caught lobster and put some of that garlic sauce on it while sitting on the beach with a fine dominican chica.....Ummm ummm.

Head 02-18-2005 10:29 PM

I love garlic too! It's great and healthy, it just doesn't do anything for the breath!

Sosa 02-18-2005 10:33 PM

I love roasted garlic. I just drizzle the heads with oil and stick it in the oven on a cookie sheet. Yummy stuff :)

Vitasoy 02-18-2005 10:56 PM

I sure do! I even put some in my juice maker when ever I am juicing!

tony286 02-18-2005 10:57 PM

garlic rules

Vitasoy 02-18-2005 11:01 PM

There are entire books written about the curative abilities of
garlic.

Research suggests it reduces blood pressure, helps with the
problem of blood clotting, lowering the LDL which increases
bad cholesterol, boosts the immune system and encourages
recovering heart attack victims. Garlic's famous smell comes
from allicin, which inhibits bacterial growth and fungus. It
also helps with an overgrowth of yeast in the body and is
used in treating candida. Therefore, do not use odorless
garlic pills. If they don't smell, your body can't tell.

Garlic increases the flow of digestive enzymes and
encourages detoxification through the skin. Despite the odor
which comes through the skin, garlic is good for you.
Throwing a clove of garlic in your vegetable juice every day
will be excellent for your health, nonetheless, it may reduce
your social life. One clove in the juicer is enough. Five
cloves will encourage a life of solitude, unless you
can educate all your friends, family and people within a thirty
foot radius of the incredible properties of fresh raw garlic
juice.
