Legalities of shooting porn (not a 2257 question!)
 

Hey,

I'm trying to schedule some shoots for this weekend in the state of Georgia, but my buddy from California just called and said it was technically illegal to shoot porn anywhere but California and like one other state, he didn't know.

I was AMAZED at how inept I was at finding the answer to this question on google--made me feel like a real retard. I tried "obscenity laws georgia" etc. Anyhoo.

I know tons of amateur sites out there shoot outside of California. This sort of falls into the "well sodomy is illegal in 13 states, too" with the one critical difference of enforceability. You can't really enforce that fact that sometimes my girlfriend wants it in the ass. But you can sure as hell track me down and enforce the making and distribution of amateur porn. What the police would do, purportedly is charge me with pandering--offering money for sex.

The people in Cali like to make everyone think that is the only legal place to shoot porn. It's not true.
