The Paycom Future.... is it possibly very bright?

I've got one key question on my mind now that Chris Mallick has been removed as CEO. Will paycom continue their agressive style of being the processor that allows you to make more money from every surfer? Personally I've always found their style to be too agressive. One biggie being pre-checked cross sales. I know Chris was HUUUUUUGE on cross sales and on making paycom clients as much money as possible. Obviously doing this carried high risk.

It would be a great move for our industry if paycom switched to a safer business model. Ccbill is doing a great job imo. We lost ibill and jettis in 2004. We need to have ccbill and paycom standing tall for years to come.

I must have been in hiding cause I didnt hear anything about Chris Mallick being removed. Got a link?

Shap I have to agree, I never liked the idea of pre-checked cross sales myself. I always thought of it as a tiny bit fraudulent. Some were downright ridiculous, especially the $80 cross sales after a 1 day trials.

As for Paycom in general, they do awesome for me! Im counting the days till they are available in EU!

This is all a business of risk management, if epoch is able to do it and stay within their CB threshholds, all the more to them I say.

I have no doubt that Paycoms future is bright, with or without pre-checked boxes. However, I am certain if will mean the end for several sponsors that rely so much on them.

I agree with you - you have to remember that there are more companies out there that can help - CCbill rocks my only fear is they approve accounts which IMHO should not be allowed as they just dont cut the mustard or their content is a little too aggressive.

Paycom is not nearly as agressive as they were a year ago.

do we need 4 separate threads about this issue?

i think that a simple fact that the adult business should be warming up to is that Visa and others do not want IPSP's to exist in the first place. "what might be" with any particular processor is not relevent in the long term if you are not seeing the bigger picture of where the industry and processors are going anway.

damn, paycom next ? :2 cents:

Shap 02-17-2005 11:55 AM

Brad I agree 100% with you. And while that is costing some people alot of money it's going to make us all alot more in the long run. Wouldn't you say?

nothing is relevant if you are not prepared for the enevitable changes ahead. done is done. finished is finished. dead is dead.

what i am getting at is that people are often not seeing the forest for the trees. how strong/professional epoch is, how much longer Ibill will last etc etc etc has nothing to do with the bigger picture and that is that there is no way that anyone can argue that their lives are ever going to get easier as IPSP's. doesn't matter what kind of company they run. if you are making yourself dependent on a dying business model, then you will most likely die with them.

the first point of agreement between IPSP's when Visa USA changed their rules last time was that the rules were designed specifically to hurt IPSP's and to put more pressure on them and put them out of business. that should have been everyones wake up call... and the real question is not "how great is epoch". the real question people should be asking is "what i am doing to prepare myself and my company for the strong possibility that they can cease to exist at anytime no matter how great they are"

just my opinion.

"making money" is short term thinking. "building a company that will always make money and weather any changes ahead" is long term thinking and requires a completely different mind set than most people have in this industry. if you are making less than 10K a month... maybe you are thinking about "making money"... and if your mini empire collapsed, you could easily figure out other ways to make 10K a month. you could do that selling shoes at Nordstroms. however, if you are making a lot more than that, you should be thinking long term, rather than just preparing yourself for where to lay blame for your eventual failure and collapse when highly probable and seemingly enevitable changes do finally happen.

It is all risk management.

But lets be real, this is online porn. The game of quick $ and staying one step ahead of the Visa monster.

Doctor Dre 02-17-2005 12:55 PM

Time will tell ... the agressive marketing was needed ... but I agree that crossales are mostly a dumy catch for surfers .

One click membership upgrades are really nice thought

Exactly right.

Visa/MC are putting the squeeze on all the IPSPs. They want that margin for themselves. They want everyone to get their own merchant accounts and they will charge extra fees and have very restrictive terms for adult processing.
