Has anyone here celebrated 'Carnevale'?

I'm not talking about the cool HBO show of the same name. I'm talking about the celebration/holiday called Carnevale, which is observed 40 days before Easter. I saw some commercial recently telling of how there's going to be this big costume party for this at this castle here in North Carolina, Castle McCulloch.

The official name of the event there is called Castle Carnevale. It is supposed to be a 'European Style Costumed Winter Festival'.

I have never even thought of going to anything like this before. I think it would be an awesome experience and what better excuse could there be to dress up and party?

Is it? I know they are all into it in Venice. I've got some pictures from the last celebration there:

It seems like it would cost an arm and a leg for the costumes alone.

OK! thought so but wasn't sure! :thumbsup

Great pics, thanks for sharing :) There it is a very old tradition... I wasn't sure people celebrate it in the USA at all.

Ya, I don't think it's celebrated much at all here. It seems that it is much bigger in Europe, especially in Venice, where it originated (where those pics are from).

Yes, they did. I remember seeing Bart yelling 'Carnevale!' in one episode.
