Are there laws about parking in front of another's house?
My neighbor constantly has his car parked in front of my house, hell its usually two cars. Once in a while its cool, no problems, but they're ALWAYS there and I swear he hasn't moved it all week. The real kicker and what really annoys me is that he has plenty of space in front of his own house AND a driveway but doesn't utilize it. WTF? Whenever people come over to visit they either have to park across the street or in front of somebody elses house, its retarded.
Are there any laws about this? I have no intention of calling the police, neighbor rivalry is definitely not something I want to get involved with, but I'm just curious what others do about similar situations. We asked him to stop doing it this morning and he said "sure no problem, I'll move it right now"... it's still sitting there! |
cant do shit if its on a public street
there are laws about not moving it though prove it hasnt moved and you can get it towed away after x amount of days |
my parents had the same issue with their neighbors... my dad told them to fucking move their shit in a not so nice way, and they never parked on their side of the street again lol
|
its probably different in each city or state, but here if its parked there longer than like 3 days they will tow it. i think they put a mark on the tires and if the mark is still facing the same way they know the tires havent rolled and they will tow it.
|
here we have altenate side of the street parking and so on, so we dont have a problem with that. but in your case, unless theres a sign or something then that person doesnt have to move their car, unless they wanted to be nice about it
|
fuck them and the police
|
man thats so dick of them to not be using the space they have. call someone who works with the city and see the time frame to tow it.
|
In a case like that its better to be firm. Ask them with a confused look on your face. WHY they park in front of your house when they have a drive way and a spot in front of there own house. Then proceed to tell them how it is inconvenient to you and your visitors and you would appreciate it if he didnt park there anymore.

Slash the tires

Ask them, if they say no here's what you do:
Buy a rusty piece of shit car that just barely runs for $100. Park it in front of their house and leave it there. |
a little used oil under their engine and then bitch to them that their car is leaking and you are going to call the city and complain if they don't park somewhere else. :1orglaugh

Depends on the laws in your area, for the most part as long as the car is current with Insurance, registration and inspection then there really isnt a whole lot that can be done.
I did get rid of an asshole neighbor's car once the inspection stickers expired and told the cops that small kids were playing in the car each day and I didnt want them to get hurt. 2 hours later the cops were out and the car was being flatbedded away. I did have to deal with an outraged neighbor when the cops told him who called. He was mighty pissed and went out of his way to be a dick to me and my wife, but, also moved a month later :) If you can get handicapped parking assigned to your place then no one can park there without the proper ID on the car. Or, you can buy a few old beaters from a 2nd hand lot and park in front of his place and play the same game he is back at him. a few rusted Nova's outfront should make him get the message. |

Get a really old car for 100$ , paint all the car pink , write with blue paint on it "Shemale Whore House Special 1,99$ 24/7" .
Park direct in front of his house. |

I have one for my trucks now since my mom has the space at her house and I drive her to the hospital every so often for her treatments and my tags are not listed as handicapped here in PA. |
Fuck that. Ask them once nicely not to park in front of your house. If they continue to do it ask them one more time and tell them if they dont move it, there will be repercusions. If it still continues then you handle it accordingly. Broken tail light, broken mirror and as the days go buy it gets worse. They will move it then. Fuck the cops and all that, handle it yourself.
|
Have someone come by and shoot up the cars. Then go to him and thank him for parking the cars there as they saved your ass from a drive by.
|
you dont want to hear my horror stories of people who park in front of my driveway...lol
|
I've found if you cover their (car)door handle in dogshit, they will find another place to park.

Nice Mack!

The car has to be moved once every 24 hours.
You can call the city and complain about the car being there on the day the street celaners come through. They will tow him for sure. |
car fire.
and noone can remember the phone number for 911. |
Here it's illegal to park on public street for more than 24hrs in a row... The problem comes when you try to prove it...
|
its probably different in each city or state
|
that sucks man, i know how you must feel. rude people friggen annoy me

not in van nuys, I've seen shit parked (dumped?) at the curb for 3 months straight.. every place is different |
Depends on where you live. In Venice the only law regarding street parking is the two hours per week that you can't be parked on one side or the other due to street sweeping, which gets you a $45 ticket. As long as you pay them within 3 weeks, you can keep on getting them as well without getting the boot or a tow away.
|
take your car and a friends car and trap him in there for a few days
|
Wow, I have this exact same problem, my neighbours always park their old rusty truck in front of my house. They then had a car with expired plates in front of my place for a while too, but we got them to move that piece of shit.
I mean if they have company and no space thats one issue, but they do this shit even when their driveway is empty. |
Nothing that I know of.
|
check the local city ordinances, it's usually there they have laws about parking. it varies from city to city. a call to your local city will usually get you the answers. most citiies have limits on street parking.
