The company I'm on up here in Canada switched everything off of @home already so I'm still running but I feel for those people who are with companies that didn't have any back up plans. I couldn't imagine having to go back to a 56k modem; that seems like a lifetime ago.

I guess I should eat crow too because I posted on this board a few months ago that @home would never be allowed to fold completely

I just popped open my Gnutella proggy, BearShare, here out of curiousity.... guess what people.... not one single @Home connection. It's like they never existed.

Interesting...then it must only be certain parts...of excite..or those companies that did not have there shit together.

Anyone know of someone that uses Cox Comm. that has lost their connection yet?

It's 1:10am and I am still going strong... Did by chance anywhere here if Cox pulled a rabbit out of the hat on this one? I called the information line, but it has'nt been updated since 5:45pm this afternoon.

I'm thinking if they're shutting it off, they're probably doing it in "waves".... somewhat organized... the whole network is not on one big switch... so if you're on @Home and still connected, it may be only temporary... you could very well be the next to go.... but what's strange is that in Gnutella, I couldn't get even one @Home connection.... not one. That seems very odd to me, especially since Fade, you say you are on @Home... which means there's at least a few still up... you'd think one out of fifty network attempts I would hit at least one. Hell, @Home usually makes up half my network connects!

Cox went to Cable and Wireless about 6 months ago in phoenix, so I think they will be going strong for a while.. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif

ProgGod - I use to use Cable and Wireless, but they sold out to Prodigy. Thats how I ended up with my backup isp as Prodigy.

From reading the Cox site and calling their info line it sounds as if they are affected by this too.

I was gone all night. Just got home 2:00 am my time and my cable was dust. But I rebooted the cable modem, rebooted my machine and presto I was back. I tried to get email and that was a no go, but then I saw in the letter I had to switch stuff to attbi.com. Wouldn't that be nice. I was away for a month and when I got back last week my provider had switched all email over to their servers and I couldn't access my old account to get any messages that I hadn't downloaded. It's going to be fun changing my email addy with the domain registers
