What is the logic behind this FHG's rule?

We have noticed that some sponsors only allow you to use 5 free hosted galleries a day per site.

What is the logic behind this? It does not make any sense to me. Seems they would want you to use as many of their galleries on a TGP as possible so they have less competition.

I think the key is traffic and diversity. Also if the TGP is in a SEO battle they want as many backlinks from different domains. Overall diversity is good with galleries.

1.If the surfer won't sign up after seeing 3 or 4 galleries advertising the same site, they probably won't do it after 10...
2. The more the surfer gets for free, the smaller their incentive to pay (in theory)...

please tell me you're not one of those people that lists every gallery from a sponsor in one giant list? what is the logic in that? if a person likes a site or the content, it only takes one or two galleries to convince them. why would they join if they can see every set from a site while surfing a free tgp.

We import all the galleries from all the sponsors sites into our TGP's. They go in to the database with all the other sponsors. 100 new galleries are randomly selected from all the galleries in the database each day.

Now if 6 are randomly selected from one sponsor that has this rule we could possibly not get paid. So we would not use them.

It just makes me laugh when they give you a text file to import into your TGP but their TOS says you can't use more than 5 a day. :)

Danielle

there is a reason for doing this...but i won't say...hopefully you'll figure it out

duplicate post. Oppps.

I have yet to find a sponsor that enforces a single rule where I am concerned. If a sponsor told me to reduce the number of their FHG's I'd just drop them and add some from their equally sellable competition.

If the sponsor wants fewer galleries showed per day, its nothing to do but respect that. But I agree with your point. It would make more sense if it was max 5 per surfer, so if you use randomly galleries it should be dedicated randomly to thumb spots and not the entire TGP. From the sponsors side, they could also make a random link or something like POTDs.

We do fully respect what a sponsor wants. That is why we read every sponsors TOS very carefully. If we don't agree with what they want we simply don't use them.

Was simply curious as to this new rule we are seeing on some sponsors. It just does not make since as far as any of us can tell.

They give you a file that can be imported into most TGP scripts and then tell you that you can only use 5 a day. I don't know of any TGP scripts that you can configure to use only 5 from this sponsor, 5 from this one etc...

Just seems like they are cutting their own throat as far as TGP owners go. Maybe I am wrong. I just don't get it.

Danielle

It is so easy...if you put up more your surfers will be happy and you won't get any sales.

If they/experience that fewer galleries makes more money that is the way to go. However, if you think another strategy works better for you, you can always contact them, explaining why your idea works better for you. Every good businessman/woman is flexible when it comes to the final goal; making money. If it is a good website, why should you stop at the TOS? Don't be lazy...and shy :winkwink:

I take it you have never run a TGP. :)
