Porn Blogs

What's your opinion on them?
Do you think they have potential to make good money?
Do you think it will replace tgps as some people are saying?
Do you have some?
Post your thoughts on the subject!

Depends on what you mean by "porn blog".

If you mean "a blog about porn" -- a site on an adult topic having all the characteristics of a blog, meaning text written with a human voice, participation in the blogging community, a blogroll, and a style that's more than an endless list of links to paysites and galleries -- yes, they can make good money. Yes I have some. No, it won't replace TGPs, it serves a different market. But they are a lot of work. Worthwhile, rewarding, remunerative work, but still work.

But if you mean "a bunch of crappy pictures and gallery links dumped into blogging software, having the function and appearance of a TGP that's been run through a blender with a bucket full of moldy tuna fish" then my opinion is, they suck. They can't make much money because blog readers and searchers click away as soon as they see them, and free porn surfers are better served by a clean TGP. They can't get real blog traffic and they don't have enough good text and links for optimal search engine fodder, which are the keys to making money in adult blogging. They won't replace TGPs, either, because they are more work for webmaster and surfer alike. Yes, you can swap crappy traffic with other porn blogs, and it's probably as profitable as TGPs at the low end, but if you aren't actually going to write a blog, you might as well put your effort into TGPs, because all you've got is a malformed mutant TGP that makes you extra work.

Tala 02-13-2005 02:57 PM

Of course they can make money. If you have several in one niche you can make great $$. Problem is finding the time to update them all each day. That's my main issue.

www.dominablog.com is SLOWLY coming together. Gotta get dommeblog and dominatrixblog in on it too.

Bogs suck. Nasty, too wet, and have lots of mosquitos. :winkwink:

Seriously, good luck with your celeb blog. I have heard that those do very well.

I'm having one of those weird days. Am finishing up My site, and got to work on a project for someone, then get into other things. Like Marketing 101. :(

hydro 02-13-2005 03:18 PM

If you target a niche they can be great for traffic, don't try and do a "porn" blog where you take a stab at everything since that might as well be a tgp. A good way to have updated "content" is approach it as a tgp type thing. Every other day or so place a link to a site with free pics or just post a few pics on the blog page. Also things like hot sex products (toys, condoms, reviews etc). Having female members send in pics of them in some erotic poses also helps out alot :Graucho

a couple nice replies in here :thumbsup
In fact I have a blog that I'm building and updating since about 2 weeks already.
It's not a tgp kind of blog....of course I put up links to paysites and fhg...but I try to write as much as I can on my niche subject and link to cool blogs or sites that are related.
I already see a couple hits from the SE coming in.
But I'm still wondering what exactly is blogrolling and how long it can be building up some nice traffic.

Tala, you like the Bmachine blog script?

It's very easy to install and setup, and if you can do some basic CSS, you can easily change stuff around. :thumbsup

I've heard that moveable type is good and someone recommended word press. Haven't tried either of those.

Mr.Fiction 02-13-2005 04:01 PM

Porn blogs won't be bigger than TGPs. Maybe bigger than TGP2 someday. :1orglaugh

So you think this is just a fad and that it won't become big? What makes you think this?

maybe porn blogs in general wont be bigger than tgp's, thats easy to understand but blogs overall are much larger than tgp's could ever become. Its far from a fad :2 cents:

GirlNinja 02-13-2005 04:16 PM

I have 4 porn blogs and they are working well for me. This advertising program brings me the most money, since u can't use google adsense on an adult site.

Check out clicksor. This service has contexual advertising for your sites, it reads the contents of your site and displays appropriate ads

like google adsense but it's adult friendly and you keep 70% of the revenue

sign up with clicksor here

tASSy 02-13-2005 04:16 PM

i think they're great (see sig). i'm sure there is potential to earn a lot of money with a porn blog if you know what you're doing, i definitely don't think they'll replace TGP's though. there tends to be reading involved in a blog, and i think much of america is still very visual and impatient. :2 cents:

Well that's pretty much what I was thinking....and that's why I started my first blog.
I really that the advantage with a blog is the community side of it that you can build up.....which can make it very much better than a tgp.

cayne 02-13-2005 04:28 PM

of course you can make serious money with blogs. but they will not replace tpgs.

it still tears up the search engines

Devilporn 02-13-2005 06:43 PM

What's the usual way to building traffic for a blog?
Mostly search engine traffic? Link trades? Both? Feeder traffic?

Tala 02-13-2005 08:02 PM

I"m still new at trading traffic but I suggest perhaps trading links with other same-niche blogs. Even if you don't have a lot at first, you'll get more.

link trades with other blogs, most other blogs have refer scripts, if you send them traffic via a plug like visit this site and get on their script then people visiting those high traffic blogs will now visit your site.

blogs get on se's very quick.

brizzad 02-14-2005 10:14 AM

blogs 4 life

Derek_M 02-14-2005 10:15 AM

We entered the blog market at Christmas, one thing that they are great for is filling content on member-sides of sites. Great updated content, of course, only if you have people updating them, which does cost a bit. The two we launched are:

CelebNewsWire - The Celeb News and Rumors Blog

and

SexWrecks - A Journal of Crotch-Borne Mockery. And Ruin.

We also put out RSS feeds on both so others can use them to update their sites.
