MY COMP is FUCKED!! (help)

I'm stuck with this shitty p3 600 atm...

Well as i was updating my tgp and listening to my mp3's the computer just FREEZES sound stops can't click the screen but the image still appears... IT JUST FROZE!

anyways i thought a reboot would fix the prob... so when i reboot everything seems to be fine BUT now nothing on the screen shows up... so i thought could be the vid card so i put an old one in but thats not the prob cause the monitor still doesn't get any info...

i also don't hear any beeps or sounds which usually tells you if there is an error? WHAT IS THE PROB WITH THE COMP?!?! m/b is fucked?

CPU cooling fan works?:)

UniversalPassLorence 02-12-2005 11:43 AM

Do you hear or feel the power supply working?

dunefield 02-12-2005 11:44 AM

cpu cooling fan works and the power supply works... the hard disk seems to be working as well

ssp 02-12-2005 11:45 AM

I'd say either the CPU or the memory is fucked.

enter the system cd and choose to fix the system.. there's a good chance the pc's fucked or near it, this happened to me, so it's a good idea to be on the safe side

Check your RAM.

GatorB 02-12-2005 11:47 AM

How much memory you got in that thing. Also you may need a new power supply. The one that came with it is probally woefully underpowered. You mihgt want to get a new computer. Hell even those $500 HPs ar Wal-Mart have more power than what you have.

dunefield 02-12-2005 11:48 AM

enter system cd? i can't even get the screen to appear... i'm starting to think the mb is at fault cause the mb fan doesn't seem to be working

Well that's not the problem. Are you sure the fan is running properly. Have you made sure ther's no dust around the fan or anywhere where it might block air from flowing in and out of it? Did you add ANYTHING to you computer recently?

Oh I though your problem was with the p3.

jawanda 02-12-2005 11:56 AM

i'm using the same monitor on the shitty comp right now so thats not the prob...

i hope it's the m/b and not the cpu...

Brando Berretti 02-12-2005 12:03 PM

If the mb was the problem i think your screen should display something about your garphic card.. and then your comp should bust when it comes to the memory count

spideriux 02-12-2005 12:09 PM

You need more RAMS !

RainMailer 02-12-2005 12:19 PM

There would be two reasons a mb would not boot.
1. Bad piece of hardware.
2. Busted MB or CPU

The first thing I would go is disconnect one component at the time starting with the CD/DVD rom then work you way to the barebones of the computer. Leave the ram for last, do you have one or two chips? If two then remove one and leave the one in slot one for ram if that does not work then try the second chip by itself. If all else fails then I would remove the battery from the mb to let the cmos reset and see if that helps. If that does not help then either your mb or cpu is bad, then you will have you problem narrowed down to two components and will be certain that the other components are good. Hope this helps. Hit me up on ICQ I will be glad to give you a hand with this.

:)

thank god today is monday so i can take it to the store...

but if a power supply is fucked could it still turn the comp on? cause there is a burning smell coming out of the power supply

Adultnet 02-13-2005 09:13 AM
