How Un-Canadian is this??
Picture this:
You're playing in a local hockey league or an industrial league or whatever, your team has ice time tonight. You go to the arena, put on all your equipment, go out there and sweat your ballsack off for 60 minutes, maybe even score a few points. What's the first thing you want when you hit the dressingroom after? You're taking off your stinky sweat-soaked equipment, laughing with the guys about the events of the game, and yep, you guessed it... you wanna reach into that huge cooler in the center of the room for an ice cold beerski. No question about it. Not in Penticton B.C., not anymore you don't. They've passed a weak-ass pathetic law in Penticton that says "NO alcoholic beverages in arena dressing rooms". According to one local DJ here in Winnipeg, there are people here that are intending to fundraise so that law can be fought and revoked, yes we Canadians feel THAT strongly about this. There are 2 God-given rights Canadians have held precious in winter... 1) The right to play road-hockey (this case was fought and won some years back in, yep you guessed it, B.C., Vancouver this time, where a group of kids were sued by their nieghbors for playing street-hockey) And 2) The right to a cold one in the dressing room after a hard skate. How can there be SO many assholes in the world?? We had the same problem growning with Street Hockey. Ever fucking day the cops would come and ask us to stop playing hockey in the street. So we did, for about 10 min. (made for a good Kool-Aid break anyway http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/biggrin.gif)
Eventually the cops just gave up. But no beer in the Dressing Rooms !?!?!?! That's Cr@zY!! Hell, we even have a few beer in the Referee Room (only after the last game of course) unless it's a good gentalmens/old-timers league your doing, then those fuckers will give you a few beers and and a toke or 2, get you fucked up real good LOL! They tell us not too, of course, but fuck off. We Refs skate faster and harder than most of the players, and he don't take shifts, ere on for the entire game!! Hey CD Smith I used to play in a league in Orangeville, Ontario (Just an hour north of Toronto) and the same thing happened there.
The arena manager would not bug us as I played with all Firefighters and they are the last guys you want to piss off especially if your house is on fire! Hehe! But we are talking small town Ontario, the place where Hockey is really "life". But I guess they had too many punks coming in getting drunk and starting fights. I'd be real surprised if that happened this year, what with the US exchange rate being what it is. Last week I took $850 in checks to the bank here and got $1150 Cdn for it. The rate at that moment was 1:1.57, best I've seen so far. Yes, I said best, all my income is from my sites, and is of course in US funds.

Hungryman, there's actually a lot I love about the US (besides KFC). I'm not going to judge all Americans by rat's example, he's about the most piss-poor example of a human (let alone an American) that I've ever seen.
I love the U.S. highway system, I'd much rather drop down into the states and travel east or west on an interstate as opposed to the cowpaths that Canada tries to pass off as highways. Our trans-Canada highway is a joke, we can't even have ONE main highway equal to an interstate. Very pitiful. I was in Montana just over a year ago, and in just about any bar there if you are gambling all your drinks are free, if you order a big steak dinner it's like $4 bucks, the deals are insane. Here in Winnipeg bars, if you're gambling they say "so what?", you get NO deals whatsoever, ever, never. Montana was a blast, in one bar I had about $30 bucks worth of drinks, then I ordered a bottle of wine to take back to the hotel. While I waited for the bottle, I gambled $5 bucks in a VLT and wont $11. The bill for the drinks and the wine was $9! Why? Because I gambled. The drinks were free and the wine was 9 bucks. Okayyyy, back to hockey here. This is too funny....
I just finished watching an American dating show called "Elimidate". If you haven't seen it before, basically one hot girl get's 4 guys to date, and one by one she eliminates them for whatever reason she chooses. She takes them on a day-long date, the activities are her choice as well. The guys literally compete to win her favor. They also have shows with one guy and four girls, which is also hilarious to watch. 4 catty women competing for the guy, wonderful. so, what does this have to do with hockey? Simple, the show from last night had a nice hot-looking tall redhead ex-model and 4 typical American guys, one was a quarerback, another was a civil engineer, all were in their mid-20's. She took them to an arena where they all put on skates and were to play hockey against each other. They got hockey gloves supplied, and sticks and a puck, and it was freaking hilarious to watch these 4 bambies flop around like macherel ina frying pan. The girl skated RINGS around these boneheads, the guys were on their asses more than their skates. If this show had've included 4 Canadian guys, this gorgeous babe would've been in for a show on ice let me tell you. Listen, a guy I grew up with was always pretty much the worst player on our team, but when he went to Forida and went skating on a public rink, kids were asking him if he was in the NHL. Anyway, this Elimidate show was pretty entertaining, and put things in better perspective. Rat says hockey is gay, but is it because he too would look like bambi out there? Humiliated?
