RACINE, Wis. - A local man may have found out firsthand just how nasty the competition is between the world's two biggest beermakers.

Isac Aguero, 24, said he was fired from his job with a Miller Brewing distributor, the same day a picture appeared in the Journal Times of Racine of him drinking a Bud Light, which is brewed by Anheuser-Busch Co.

The photo, taken Feb. 5, was part of the newspaper's weekly "On the Town" feature, which depicts the city's night life.

Aguero, who had been a forklift operator at CJW Inc. for four years, told the newspaper he was informed by co-workers when he arrived at work Monday that he was in trouble because of the picture.

He said he was called into the general manager's office and told he was fired. Aguero said he was not given a reason and claimed he never had problems with his bosses.

"It was a Saturday and I wasn't at work," he told The Journal Times. "They can't tell me what beverages I can drink.

"Bud Light's my beer of choice, I always drink that. Just because I work there, do I have to change what I drink?"

Thomas Bey, a CJW sales manager, read a statement to the Associated Press Friday and would not answer any questions. He said the company does not publicly discuss past or present employees.

"We consistently remind our employees that drinking alcohol is entirely a personal decision," Bey said. "The image and reputation of any company is determined in large part by the way its employees are seen to behave. Our employees can and should be our best ambassadors."

Repeated calls Friday by The Associated Press to the phone number listed for Aguero went unanswered.

Dave Hock, vice president of Beechwood Distributors, which supplies Anheuser-Busch products in southeastern Wisconsin, said:

"We hate to see anybody get let go who's enjoying a nice cold Bud Light on his own time. We hate to see that come from any competitor, be it CJW or anybody. We don't think it's fair to the individual to be fired based on what he was drinking."

Anheuser-Busch should sign this guy up for a commercial... would be a killer....

my friend used to drive a truck for Coke and was drinking a Pepsi while in uniform in a restuarant (drivers are supposed to remove their company shirt if they are drinking a competitor's beverage) and got fired...of course he went to work for Pepsi as a driver and is now a regional manager for Pepsi...

Anheuser-Busch should offer him a job, now THAT would be great

Budweiser is getting ready to put miller out of business. They have allowed them to exist for a while now.

the megaphone commercials pissed them off.

Its over for miller.

So Wal-Mart workers should fired for shopping at Target? McDonald's workers should be fired for eating at Burger King? Another reason not to drink Miller. what a bunch of fuck ups.

back in my poor days, I worked as a temporary in coke's human resource department around here....It was known from the top down that you had BETTER not be seen using any Pepsi products. Even if you ordered Pizza Hut for lunch, that would be your ass because pepsi owns them.

But the flip side is that you got all of the free drinks you wanted so why would I go somewhere to buy pepsi when I can drink my fill of coke for free.
