Thinking about taking a vacation to Belize in a month or so. Anything we should check out while we're down there?

I heard mixed feelings about crime and places to avoid. What are your thoughts on that? One website said to stay out of belize city after dark...

there are some places that yankees cant go to after dark but for the most part belize is a very peaceful place. I would suggest visiting Dandriga for the fishing and coastal part of the country..traveling by bus is the way most tourists get around and you can get around the country pretty cheaply.Make sure you eat some boilup and plaintain while u are there :)

Ambergrise Kaye is the shit, stay away from Belize City after dark or even in the daytime bad crime problems. There are some great islands a short flight from belize city and i highly recommend the snorkling or diving. Great place if you want to get away and just relax
