How do I find an accountant who works with adult businesses?
Just thinking ahead to tax-time. Does it even matter if he has experience with the porn biz or not?
I'm just thinking it'll be better to have someone who understands things like the costs associated with content purchases, buying traffic, advertising, blah blah. Should I just use one online or is it really better to have someone who I can sit down with and show all my paperwork to? thanks |
I just use a regular accountant. I don't tell her what kinda computer business I do, just Internet/computer stuff.
As far as sitting down w/ them...my acct. is in Florida & I'm in Chicago. I just send her my stuff...everything works out just fine. |
Shouldn't make any difference. Take yer stuff down to H&R Block. Tell 'em you run an Internet business. End of explanation.

regular accountant.
Tell em you like facials. They like it. |
But, your accountant doesnt have to know what kind of internet business you run ? Aren't different taxes for adult/non-adult internet business ?

I recommend paying a little extra and starting a relationship with an experienced accountant or CPA. I'm incorporated and I use mine for everything from occasional payroll, taxes, all the forms (quarterly, etc) from the state, personal taxes... the list goes on. The best thing about having some sort of relationship with an accountant is that they can counsel you on making proper decisions.. IE - C Corp vs S corp (if you're incorporated) and whether to set your business up as cash (actual deposits) versus accrual basis.
I don't know, if you're just doing business under your name then the best thing is probably H&R Block but if you ever plan on expanding or getting lines of credit, etc, it's probably best to incorporate and get an accountant. Brad SinEmpire |
Tell your accountant what you do for a living. Your accountant is like your lawyer, don't lie to them (or try to be vague). If they don't want to work with you others will.
The more a tax professional knows about your business the more they can help. |
