To mark the 6 million post anniversary might I reccmend another section for this board.

A section where...
Titles such as "Pics" or "I just shit my pants" do not exhist.
There are some very valuable business information posted in your board every day.

I have no problem jumping into the more relevant topics, to keep em alive however there is vast audience here that miss them bits of gold.

Perhaps you can enact somthing that will move relevant threads to another area where they can be read?

See my sig for example. I am gleening GFY's information and linking to relevant threads on a daily basis then telling peple that matter about the address so they do not have to read "My cum shot just hit my keyboard" threads:).

Relevant topics, god topics and discussions just fall off like water. Its a shame really.

I am sure in the "GFY War Room" the idea to keep people comming back is to keep the good stuff buried, but I dunno. Keeping the refresh rate in the red 24-7 is part of the goal to keep them impressions and advertisements alive however there is alot more value as a whole to threads that must be "Discovered".

Run this fucker like google and Lensman would stand to make alot more money.
INFORMATION and CONTENT is KING, why leave the peasants to squander in the rock fields in fertile land?

It's just my opinion, but splitting like that, trying to rule a section with an iron fist... wouldn't add to the activity, it would take away from it.

Each thread gets a vte, user decide the vote.
Each thread breaks into 3 different purposes.

THOUGHTFUL

Each thread has a link where user's can relate what they are looking for.

They choose what they want to read and clicking a link at the top will filter the results by weight of vote. See illustration.

This is a multi million dllar idea that bleeds filtering by user preference!
If a user wants to be entertained they can set there ranking, they need info they can set the ranking!!!!

Its fucking evolutionary like all my idea's.

That's more like it, I was about to suggest business threads having different solor, or icons or whatever, so if you don't really have time to fuck around, you just come here for a few minutes and scan the board for valuable info.

When you really think about it, most of the ther boards carry business related announcements for a lng duration thank god for the pin ups at this place, however why jump into GFY to look for one where other boards are slower moving to find announcements or business related topics?

The ranking system merely slides the scale to give a wider range of user interest results...
Thus providing what end user's are looking for.

i did my own little test on this as well.

i ran a thread about 404 traffic to get peoples opinions on it and etc etc. it was a very thought out thread and had a definite value to it. it dropped off the board in a matter of 15 minutes. a few people posted some helpful info, but it wasnt on the front page for more than 20 minutes.

i then ran another thread with a pic of a hot chick. it blew up. damn thing was on the front page for 3 days.

the biz threads for people here are not fun and they could care less. out of respect to gfy i wont say where i do get lots of biz done, dont get me wrong, you can get stuff done on gfy, it just has a stigma of being a playground. lots of crazy stuff here to see. gfy is like the cafeteria at high shcool. everyones hanging and just doing their thing. gfy is your 24-7 news source about anything. if i hear that something has happened around the world, the first place i go is gfy to see what people are talking about. you get the latest and greatest on anything, even if you dont care about it.

as far as being a valuable resource, gfy is you betcha. our program will be advertising on here, well, as soon as eric gets back to me we will. i heard a rumor he is in louisiana for mardi gras.

so i guess i am saying that you have a good idea and no matter how many times someone posted it, its still a great idea and i would totally support that section of the board.

Thread Ranking Just do it.

AlienQ you have little business sense.

Pics and i shit my pant threads = pageviews
Page Views = more advertisers
More advertisers - more money for lensman
Less advertises = less money for lesnman

I seriously doubt that Lensman will respond to this thread, or even read it.

Either this, or go with AlienQ's option and charge money for some parts of the board.

Why because thier are only a handful of posters that would pay to read/post.

How about split the "Fucking Around & Program Discussion" into:
1) Fucking Around
2) Business Discussion
3) Webmaster Q & Fuckin' A

Or do what JBM does and let users flag threads as "Biz Thread"

This allows us to use the "Show Biz Threads only" feature
