If so which one, what do you do, if anything and what issues are you dealing with in your area?

Me: IBEW #213. Shop steward and union contract negotiator.

Current issues: contracting out and blacking out of holidays as well as several technical issues that have to do with the language in our collective agreement and the application of it.

Yes it can seem that way at times... For example unions are the reason why the work week in Canada is defined as Monday to Friday and it is assumed we all have the weekends off. Riots in Toronto, Bloody Sunday etc. It would have been much better for business if they could have kept their proposed 6 day work week without having to pay overtime like they wanted and breifly had...

Been a shop steward for about 15 years in the petroleum industry.I'm a tech who basically works on pumps and aviation equipment..Our contract is up actually and basically it's money issues..If it wasn't for unions ,the man would want everybody to work for 10 bucks an hour
