Real Estate - 700K median house price - SWEEEEET

http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/arc...es/03local.htm

here is an article abou my town and the rising housing.. fucking nutty 700K median price home there is nothing in this town for less than 500K and that is a totall ghetto dump

I am so happy i got in many years ago on a lot of rental property and am sitting in a nice position now...

though i do expect a decline in real estate over the next 5 years.

JFK 02-09-2005 11:17 AM

Perhaps its time to cash out and reinvest somewhere where its on the rise :thumbsup

NinjaSteve 02-09-2005 11:20 AM

In Iowa, a 700K house would mean your big pimpin. In Minnesota it means your medium pimpin. Where you live it means that you have a house. Lame!

Doctor Dre 02-09-2005 11:21 AM

Here you can get like a 7500 sq feet mansion for 500k ...

el_greco 02-09-2005 11:26 AM

Shit, LA Blows. A 7500SqFt house in a decent part of SoCal would run you well over 2Mil.

Taboo 02-09-2005 11:28 AM

Lars, are you trying to give us a clue what you paid for Cams.com? :1orglaugh

.

Basic_man 02-09-2005 11:30 AM

sweetME 02-09-2005 12:51 PM

The prices are unbelievable for housing. 700k is an average house in my town with nothing special like pool, big backyard, etc. They're around 1600-1800 sq.ft.

Lensman 02-09-2005 12:52 PM

I'm sick of you rich guys in your fancy ass houses, what about the rest of us?

ADL_JD 02-09-2005 12:55 PM

700k in Orlando will get you a nice house in a nice neighborhood. 5000 sq ft on a small conservation lot.

You have to go to 1.5mill around here to get into the exclusive neighborhoods - where shaq and tiger live.

Fred Quimby 02-09-2005 01:04 PM

I started inversting in real estate over 10 years ago.

My only advice is to buy land cause God ain't makin any more of it.

TheJimmy 02-09-2005 01:14 PM

dayum, ok now i feel better, I thought it was bad down here in SLO county with the median house being about 400-500ish...

latinasojourn 02-09-2005 02:19 PM

the original poster is correct.

SC is a great little town, but the value is not there, the boardwalk area used to be quaint, and now is mostly a slum.

i made my first big money in bay area real estate (SF and east bay) and sold all my rental properties and moved to an area where you can keep the doors unlooked and not worry about some afro american putting a gun to your head and asking for your wallet.

you can live in a million dollar victorian in SF and you still can't find a place to park because some asswipe has blocked the driveway to your garage, and some panhandler wants to hustle you on the way to your front door.

been there, done that.

IMO calif RE is only good for making money on resale, not for quality of life, because the VALUE ain't there.

sweetME 02-09-2005 02:57 PM

The way it's going, I'll never be able to own a desent house of my own. Great!

videopass-chick 02-09-2005 03:05 PM

It is crazy how are we suppose to buy a house with this prices.

There are places in California where you can buy a 3bd/2bath house for under $100k :winkwink:

BradShaw 02-09-2005 03:10 PM

$700k gets you a nice pad in Dallas.

Of course, I live in a trailer.

is the house made out of rubber?

Herb Kornfield 02-09-2005 04:20 PM

I paid under 100k 4 years ago and these places are almost 200k for the same freaking house.

Once it hits 260K im outta here to a loft. :)

Mr Pheer 02-09-2005 04:52 PM

I paid $273k two years ago, now its worth $520k+

Las Vegas real estate started going nuts right after I moved here.

Meloman 02-09-2005 06:12 PM

Bay Area Real Estate is insane. It just keeps climbing and climbing.

But places like Manhattan are still more expensive right? So we probably have lots more room to go.

You can buy the largest residence in Mississippi at 29,000 square feet for only $4.4 million.

scoreman 02-09-2005 08:20 PM

One of my fondest college memories was meeting up with a chick going to UC Santa Cruz at a state pool tournament and bailing on the tournament to take off to stay with her for the weekend in the UC-SC dorms. Went down to the boardwalk and then watched big wave surfing from some cliff.

Ahh sweet memories of being 21 and having no responsibility.
