and if any of those companies pay that much money for about.com that will be their downfall.

prolly not that much... not worth 350+ million thats for sure. This is one of those cases that one company doesn't want the other to have it. In the end the one who wins the bidding war is going to be fucked.

I think Google will get it (obviously depending on the price). They've already bought out sprinks.com from Primedia in their prime and I have a feeling About.com will fall into Google's business model quite nicely. Let's see if the other players will step up to the plate cash wise now :)

it might not be a wise acquisition (not judging it) but I surely doubt that 350 million will make Google go boom lol. Both of the founders have more in their pocket than that :2 cents:

MS or AOL may buy it just to keep it out of Google/Yahoo's hands. I'd buy it but I just cut up my AMEX Black card. :)

about.com makes MAD coin in CPM ads... still do to this day. The concept is good, it has to be mismanagement and such that is forcing them under. Overspending on useless shit.

they used to do VERY well back in the days with their banner ad network lunarnetwork (must be something else) or whatever it was called... CPM's of $100+ and I'm not kidding =)
