I really want both but I have to pick I would rather have money. No point in being famous, on tv, and hounded by the papparazi if I didn't have the money to always look my very best and decked out in designer duds. If that were the case, it would be better not to be famous at all.

Fame brings a lot of hassles to your life. Better to enjoy your wealth quietly. However its very hard to obtain great wealth without your business or you getting recognition.

Not necessarily, you can be famous..yet struggling with money.

I do know people who do their best to hide their wealth so they don't end up on the 'top100' wealthiest list published every year in finland (based on taxes paid). I like them.

Yeah money for me too. In fact I would shun fame at all costs. I don't want to be recognized on ever street corner. You can't live a 'normal' life like that.

This is lame, but I have to admit I have always wanted to be famous... but famous in a celebrity type of way, not in a "notorious" way or famous for something derogatory or unflattering. The ultimate would be to be famous for being a socialite and be known just for being rich and sporting haute couture a'la Paris Hilton style. Just imagine being rich and not even to have to work, and to be famous on top of it all, and to go to all the latest Hollywood parties all the time and attend fashion week front row in NY. Life must be grand.

I have been reading society pages and really super fascinated and obsessed with NY society people like Amanda Hearst and all those rich kids that are debutantes and debute at the Cotillon in Paris and all of that. O'h well, I'll never be famous and most likely never become super rich like a millionaire or anything, so I will just have to live vicariously through the lives of others.

I don't expect anyone on GFy to really understand though. This board is mostly males and they probably think what I wrote is very superficial. But
I think most girls dream of being rich and famous... Especially with these shows on E and VH1 showing how lavish the celebs live and all, it makes one feel depressed.

Fame could mean notoriety and/or infamy. Imagine being Newton. He's famous to this day for his accomplishments in physics although I don't think he was a rich man. He changed the course of history and helped humankind advance. Most of the the rich men that lived when he was alive are not known today.

Timothy McVeigh will be known for decades to come. He will be infamous in the textbooks because of what he did. We can argue he was crazy, misguided, or that he stood up for his beliefs. Whatever we believe about him, he will be talked about and remain 'famous'.

No, I don't choose fame, I want BOTH. Ideally I would have both. But if I was born a rich heiress and partied a lot and had wild antics I'm sure I could "make" myself famous just by being wealthy. Look at society people like Amanda Hearst (family owns Hearst publishing) and Casey something (forgot her last name) heiress to the Johnson and Johnson co, and the daughters of Danielle Steel, they are famous simply by coming from well-known extremely extremely wealthy families worth millions or even billions? People like to write about them in society columns in Vogue and in Pageseix just because they are wealthy.

So if I had to chose I would chose money because that could lead to fame.
But preferably it would have to be obscenely wealthy, not just a "little" bit wealthy, but immensely wealthy like being the descendant of a Rockefeller or something like that.
