What kind of obsessive compulsions do you have? When I'm hyper or anxious I...

...wash my hands and brush my teeth several times and sometimes clean my monitors :1orglaugh How weird am I? :upsidedow

What do you do?

Dagwolf 02-08-2005 05:35 PM

I smoke like a chimney. I think your compulsions are healthier.

axelcat 02-08-2005 05:35 PM

I like to clean things alot as well

Jace 02-08-2005 05:37 PM

here are a couple I have...many more where that came from

-all drawers and doors must always be closed if that is the way they normally remain...mainly drawers and cabinets though

-my covers on my bed have to be in perfect position when I lay down at first, otherwise I can't sleep all night

alexg 02-08-2005 05:37 PM

i wish i'd clean things up when i'm nervous

collegegirlvids 02-08-2005 05:41 PM

I'm a nympho =)

TheJimmy 02-08-2005 05:42 PM

I sometimes do the old boring hand wasthing thing but not TOO badly really...

then when I sit on the toilet to take a crap, or just to leak & read, I wipe it down with rubbing alcohol & dry it before I park my ARSE on it...

when I have the casa to myself for the day I usually clean up some to enjoy things exactly as I like them...

ooo, and during that time sometimes I like to clean out the sink and ensure it's totally dry, and clean, I love a good clean DRY sink...

floors being clean is nice too but often a waste of time to worry with if you live with others that don't mind a dirty floor.... :/... in a perfect world I would ban all carpets that can not be removed and taken outside for a beating and a suning...

I HATE carpets (except nice rugs)...and people that carpet bathrooms should be SHOT...ok ok ok, maybe not shot but beaten lightly with a bat ;)

xlogger 02-08-2005 05:42 PM

ok i have one. When i at the end of smoking a sig .. i have to stop with 3 really fast puffs..so fucking weird..it gets me all dizzy too..

Me too! I always make my bed before I get in it... I won't fall asleep if my sheets and blankets are in disarray lol

Rorschach 02-08-2005 05:46 PM

i like to have 2-3 shemales around the house at all times, just for talking/ companionship.

OneHungLo 02-08-2005 05:48 PM

i always blow inside of a glass before i pour a drink into it...i always think there is like dust inside of it :1orglaugh

i can sleep fucking anywhere, but if I have covers they have to be perfect or I worry about it til I straighten them

Loadie 02-08-2005 05:56 PM

i miss my Furious_Female, and play too much guitar

uno 02-08-2005 05:58 PM

I have to eat snacks like cheez-its or crackers in 2's.

The volume on my stereo always has to be an even # or multiple of 5.

When my friend John was hanging out with me he would always slightly twist the hood ornament on my benz so i didn't notice till we were driving. Then I'd pull over on the side of the highway and put it right while he was laughing hias ass off.

I'm not OCD in any useful ways, just completely pointless shit. My place is a mess, i hate cleaning, i'm not a workaholic.

wargames 02-08-2005 06:00 PM

I wash my hands several times. :1orglaugh

Pens and pencils should be in order from tallest to shortest, and all in the same direction with the labels pointing upwards, direcly upwards.

Furious_Female 02-08-2005 06:03 PM

I also have a system for my desktop when I reboot or whatever... My windows have to be in a certain order... if I accidentally close a window or it crashes etc, I have to reboot and put them in the proper order ROFL

Herb Kornfield 02-08-2005 06:08 PM

I cant leave the house until I brush my teeth.... most is 2x in 1 day, so, its not overwhelmingly nuts....but, I'll have the truck keys in hand, jacket on and walking out the door to stop and immediately turn around and head into our bathroom to brush before I make it out the door.

I have to wash my hands before and after I eat...but thats more of a cleanliness thing when your doing shit all day and then eating.

Each night we have to watch the 11 oclock news or it drives me up the wall that I missed it..... One day I'll get over this crazy shit.

spacemonk 02-08-2005 06:18 PM

funny stuff!

I used to have a lot of washing obsessions and compulsions when i was younger..

Also religious compulsions when I was a kid, had to mention every single person i knew or cared about in a prayer every night or something bad would happen, I usualy forgot who I already mentioned half way through so I had to do it over and over again.... man sometimes it lasted for hours :1orglaugh

Then there was also a time when I would walk down the street and just suddenly start thinking the air is poisoned so I would stop breathing for as long as I could

Or having to repeat every thought twice in my head to prevent bad shit.. LOL

Had some really bad episodes too, AIDS / cancer / death obsessions....

Messed up shit

TheDoc 02-08-2005 06:45 PM

Wow, lets see...

My bed covers must all be facing the correct direction, pattern down. Pillow opening is always facing inwards.

At a restaurant if it?s the family, and myself, I?ll organize everything on the table. I even have a way to stack trash on the table, plates, where a glass can go and so on. By the end of dinner though, it doesn?t bother me anymore and shit is everywhere.

Cupboards and drawers somewhat bother me; the wife takes care of those for me though.

Casino chips must be in order, color pattern must be lined up, and the biggest chips can?t touch the smallest chips. I keep exact stacks of the chips too. This goes to shit the drunker I get.

A lot of the shit doesn?t bother me as much anymore, through the years I have had many different ones come and go. Normally once I figure out I?m doing a pattern of things, I shortly afterwards work on changing it, doing the opposite gets me to quit worry about it. Some problems are easy to deal with and others I have been working on for years.

Mutt 02-08-2005 06:47 PM

twirl my hair and then pull it - very gay thing to do - girls do it - and me. :thumbsup

MiaVega 02-08-2005 07:53 PM

I HAVE to wash my hands several times at day, no matter what..and if I think about it even after I just did it, I have to do it again. Especially when I come in from the stores...first thing I do, drop whatever's in my hands and go wash.

In public bathrooms I have to use the towels to open the door, if there's no towels (just the blower (pet peeve) ) I find tissues or something..

I'm complusive about spraying my Victoria's Secret body spray, before I leave the house, after I smoke a cig, or before i go into a store...

I'm in agreement about the sheets and comforters, have to be facing the right way.....and cannot get into bed w/out the bed being made.

Cannot stand condensation on iced coffees (like from Starbucks), I have to wrap napkins around it.

there are plently more...things that I'm compulsive about....but the #1 complaint I get from family and friends is digging threw my bag when I'm in the car, everyone yells at me to stop, but I can't b/c all of a sudden I think of something and then wonder if it's in my bag.....my husband refuses to sit next to me on airplanes b/c I dig through, seriously we have to sit apart.

Now I'll be complusively thinking about all my compulsions.... :disgust
Oh and being ON TIME......

Except for the digging through your purse, I do ALL of that as well! I even use my shirt sleeve to open door knobs, even in my house! haha

The Heron 02-08-2005 08:49 PM

I have this really shitty habit of putting my pants on before I go outside, the only habit I can't seem to get rid of.

SykkBoy 02-08-2005 09:42 PM

when I'm writing something, I always have to go over round shapes (o's, p's, 9's, etc.) several times so they are darker...

I have a little tick where I have to scratch the back of my neck and sometimes I spaz about it and it can be embarassing in public...it gets worse if I'm excited

before I go to bed every night, I have to check the oven knobs, even if I haven't been near the oven all day...

when I bowl, I always have to run my hands over the air blower before I pick up my ball...if I don't I can't concentrate on the approach

Kapitan Ivanov II 02-08-2005 09:50 PM

Wow, there must be a shit load of radiation and manmade airwaves penetrating all your brains every day, and the result is a bunch of seriously mentally fucked up people.

Spunky 02-08-2005 09:59 PM

I swat at invisible flies :helpme

Monique Niccole 02-08-2005 10:23 PM

I obsess about locking the door. When I leave the house, I usually check 2-3 times to make sure that I've locked it -- and that's just in the walk from the door to the car. There are also times when I get in the car and drive away and have to turn around to check it again.

If I'm writing a list or a letter, and I make a mistake where the handwriting is less than perfect (in my opinion), then I'll start over and write the whole thing again.

I always have to have some sort of lotion or Vaseline on my feet -- especially at night. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night just to reapply. I also always wear socks and won't walk on a floor barefoot or walk outside without shoes.

most of these symptoms are text book ocd.

My thing was around 23-24 I was obsessed with loosing my hair. I thought I was going bald and I would look at my scalp constantly, 20-30 times a day and it would aggravte me that my hair got in the way of me looking for potential balding areas. Thankfully, I was in school at the time and was aware of the problem and it's treatment. I went on xffexor and clonopin and it kicked it all in 6 weeks. It's been about 7 years and I still have tons of hair and could careless if it falls out :)

I have those, and the curtains have to be just right too. I frequently get Apache up so I can straighten the sheets.
my main OCD though is with checking things like doors are locked, the oven and hobs are off, the tap isnt dripping. And if I cant remember doing 1 thing, I have to go do everything again. And I have to kiss my cat and man 4 times every night...or in multiples of 4. In fact, everything has to be in 4's. Lol....I have got a bit better of late too!

Hehe, yeah, that is funny.. :)

When I'm alone and standing in a long line, I get the sweats, cracking my knuckles over and over, I get very a stressed feeling. I know to calm myself down now though, but it normally goes on for a good 5 minutes before I start to calm down.

Years back, windows locked and looking outside checks. At least 30 times a day. At one point I thought I was being followed, attacked, watched, etc, create a nice little world for my mind to play around in. My worst obsessions happened in my head, thinking something was that wasn?t.

I wasn?t like this before I went into the Marines, and years later it?s starting to go away.

Jakke PNG 02-09-2005 09:42 AM

my number is 3
in my drug days, I had to tap my coke straw 3 times on a hard surface before using it...every time I used it...it was like this ritual and I wouldn't even notice myself doing it most of the time...
I figured when I quite the drugs, it would stop some of my OCD's, but I've been clean over 16 years now and still have most of them...

Vanilla DeVille 02-09-2005 09:48 AM

My bed sheets must be tucked in as tight as possible before I go to sleep... almost like a cocoon. As well as the top sheet has to be facing with the "underside down". I shower and apply my body lotion the exact way everyday too. I actually have a ton of little things... Stewie thinks I am freak. lol

Another thing is I CANNOT have any soap left in the sink, the soapy bubbles have to go! Like if I wash a pot or something and there's soap bubbles in the sink, it drives me crazy.....I stand there and use that hose thingy and keep rinsing until it's all gone, and cannot touch any dishes in the sink to put them in the dishwasher w/out gloves, even it was just put in there, gotta whip out the rubber gloves..then I have to wash my hands after that!

I clean till i fall a sleep.

phogirl69 02-09-2005 02:20 PM

If I ever set my alarm, I always have to check it 10 times or even more to make sure that it's on.

I am also super compulsive about looking at myself in the mirror, sometimes I admit I even look at my reflection in the windows of other cars in the parking lot and look at myself in their rearview mirror outside as I'm walking through. I also have a bad habbit of always looking at myself in almost every mirror in the mall at almost every store I walk by. It's not because I think I'm all hot so I check myself out, I am just really compulsive and obsessive and I don't know why. I don't just do this when I'm anxious, I do it all the time.

I think it stems from my teenage years when I started to be like that and it just never went away. It's not a habit I want to break, I kind of like it, it's comforting in a weird way. Plus I always have to make sure my makeup is not smeared. That is probably my most compulsive habit, and it's very extreme!
