Pre-Order Your Sony PSP NOW !!!

For those of you that are interested in the Sony PSP, you can now pre-order it at EB Games. They're gonna ship it on March 24th. Today is the first day they're taking orders !! Here's a link to the item - http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/520683.asp

They only sell it in a bundle right now for $399 where they give you a memory stick and let you pick an accessory and 3 games for that price though (read what it says though, you can't pick them at this time).

I know that this thing is gonna be REALLY hard to get when it's launched, so if you really want it, it's best to pre-order it ASAP.

My EBGames guy told me that I could reserve them with a $5 deposit. I preordered 10 of them, as they'll be in short supply come launch time.

Gonna have some fun over charging the morons who have to have one but didn't preorder one.

Hey man, that's great, good luck on making a nice profit :)

Yeah, it's strange how people will want something so bad that they'll pay a LOT more than the item actually costs when they could've just pre-ordered the thing in the first place and paid cost.

Fake Nick 02-08-2005 04:36 PM

what is so great about the Sony PSP ? what can you do with it other than play games while on the road ?

flashfire 02-08-2005 04:38 PM

looks pretty cool

Scott McD 02-08-2005 04:39 PM

I'll be getting one of those also.

Fuck Nintendo's new handheld, the games look shit...

BIGTYMER 02-08-2005 04:48 PM

Too expensive right now. Give it time and watch it drop.

Rui 02-08-2005 04:50 PM

You would be stupid if you bought it now...let alone pre-order it

Well first off, it's supposed have graphics that are BETTER than the PS2 and it has built in 802.11b Wi-Fi connectivity for online gaming.

Those 2 reasons alone are enough to make me drool :)

As far as people saying to wait for it to drop, I don't anticipate it dropping anytime soon. The price on the link that I gave was $399, BUT that's for a bundle, they figure in $249 for the system which is it's retail price, then an accessory and 3 games which brings it up to the $399. I guess that they're just milking the launch, however I'd probably buy a few games anyways :)

Here's a FAQ section about the system over at IGN -

Was thinking of getting one for myself but I rather wait for Apple to release a cool portable video player (hopefully someone thinks of this)

I don't know where you're looking, but I just checked over on Ebay and there were a handful that went for $220-$240, but a majority of them are going for $250-$400 JUST for the barebones system !!! Look at the completed auctions and you'll see. Heck, look at the live auctions, I think that more people are realizing you can buy them on Ebay now, so that's pushing the prices up higher because most of the current auctions are closer to $300 for just the system. ALSO, I'd rather have the US version just to be sure that everything is gonna work ok :)

Der Schleicher 02-09-2005 07:16 AM

yeah cool. but let's wait and see till the price becomes reasonable.

TOKYO--About 4,800 Japanese PSPs have been returned to Sony due to problems with the handheld's square button, according to a recent interview with Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi in Nikkei Business magazine.

Kutaragi acknowledged that the button is less responsive than the others, in part because it's so close to the PSP's 480x272 screen. Because there isn't enough room to put the square button's detection switch directly underneath, it's off to the right, making it less responsive--and sometimes causing it to stick.

Nikkei Business reported that, to date, .6 percent of the 800,000 shipped units have been returned to Sony for repair. Kutaragi was unapologetic about the issue: "This is the design that we came up with. There may be people that complain about its usability, but that's something which users and game software developers will have to adapt to. I didn't want the PSP's LCD screen to become any smaller than this, nor did I want its machine body to become any larger.

"The button's location is [architectured] on purpose," Kutaragi added. "It's according to specifications. This is something that we've created, and this is our specification. There was a clear purpose to it, and it wasn't a mistake."

Offering additional testimony praising the handheld, Kutaragi said, "I believe we made the most beautiful thing in the world. Nobody would criticize a renowned architect's blueprint that the position of a gate is wrong. It's the same as that."
