How do people buy cars these days and still get a good deal?

I mean now with the internet, do people still go to dealerships and haggle with the salesman, or is there a way to just go on the net, type in what you want, and have different dealerships bid on your purchase?

I know exactly what I want to get and I fucking hate dealing with car salespeople.

Depending on where you live... I kinda like those auction sites..You can get some pretty good deals

No way in hell I would buy a car without testing it first in person, and discuss the pricing face to face with the salesman,etc..etc..

I think its easy to get a good deal by going to a dealership but I am all about either buying the end of year sales on last year models or buying a car thats maybe 1-2 years old.

Thats what I prefer doing also, I mean you will still get a new car basicly, but it will be much cheaper since you will not pay taxes, and the "brand-new" premium :thumbsup

I just look for motivated sellers.

I've found that if you wait for the worst possible time to purchase, you can swing one hell of a deal.

Example. 4 hurricanes came through our area last summer/fall. After that final Hurricane came through, my wife and I purchased 2 vehicles. Nothing is more motivated than a dealership that usually sells 200 cars per month that has only sold 25 cars and it was the 28th of the month. No hassle, wife got out of her lease early with NO penalty it was a really good time to buy.

In the past I have found it's about patience. People get their mind made up that they "NEED" to get a new car. Thats when the problem begins.
